Sailing Stones x Radio Flouka - 6-8 May 2022

After releasing the very tense and politically charged Flowers Of The Revolution album on SVBKVLT, Nahash returns home to France for an EP on POLAAR.

Tides talk about ebb and flow. It is also a symbol for what is taken. When the tide is high on the shore of Western Europe it is low in Haiti. When nations are impoverished in western Africa, wealth is created on the east coast of the USA. Tides continues with Nahash's brand of anti-imperialist electronic destruction, taking tempos faster as we come closer to extinction-level events.

The sounds of this EP works in contrast between heavy drum sound and airy pads and synths sounds mashing together into a sort of mutant Jungle music built from recycled drum loops and 2nd hand Trance CD samplers.

Nahash is joined on two tracks by a prominent French player of the 160-game, SNKLS, who blends his supple modular textures and abstract vision into the nostalgic rave atmosphere of the EP.

For its fourth release, Plaisance Records is teaming up with the label and collective Jungelen to reveal « Nordnes », a memphis rap/chopped’n’screwed tape by norwegian best kept secret, LARS.

Never made to be released at first, « Nordnes » is a 23 tracks lost project, produced and performed by LARS - also known as Kamuflars - after some holidays in Norway’s wilderness, taking some time off from his day-to-day job as a farmer in Aurland, listening to old classics as Shawty Pimp, DJ Screw and news things as Kryptonyte.

With a BA in Sound Arts and a subsequent Master in Contemporary Arts Practice from Bern University of the Arts in 2018, Belia Winnewisser’s expertise in sound design and live electronics has early on been met with many extracurricular activities. As a composer, singer and keyboardist, Belia’s past involvements included former Goth band Evje, indie super group Silver Firs, or pop duo α=f/m. These days she focuses on her solo work as producer, live electronics musician and DJ, while completing assignments for theatre productions as well as audio book music, or teaching in songwriting and production workshops.

Omni Selassi: 
OMNI SELASSI strikes up for musical doom. And nothing is ever going  to be the same again: Dissociation and dissection, symbiotic,  androgynous, kaleidoscopically polytox. Their work is a journey in a  rocket (high up / highest), a submarine (deep down / deepest), a freight  train- always moving. Eventually they ignite themselves, immerse in  spiritus, the rug is on fire and smoke spreads out, filling the whole space,  with the sky as a roof. 

Two drums on vocals, a lot of electroacoustic twisting, sometimes  lashing, sometimes boisterous. Call it: Superflux Tribe vs. Bubblegum Drone. Kraut. Punk. Levitate.

Rea:
Like a light ray REA diffuses her voice upon the musical surfaces. The ones she is looking for. The ones she comes across. She takes  hold of this astonishing bundle of voices and combines pop and  experiment, entwining the solid with the volatile, the unconscious with the written. Her home is the in between. 
She shows that radicalism does not have to be loud, that  consequence is not simply reductionism, that colourfulness can  be exigent, and the obscure can be true. Is radicalism about this  unconditional search for roots?

Paris-based Frédéric D. Oberland is an experimental multi-instrumentalist, composer, photographer and label co-owner of NAHAL Recordings. Founding member of avant-rock collective OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE, electro-shamanic and psych-noise groups FOUDRE! and Le Réveil des Tropiques, he has released on Sub Rosa, Hallow Ground, Gizeh Records, IIKKI, In Paradisum and NAHAL Recordings, producing film scores and soundscape installations. His music spiral into an uninterrupted stream of complexity, high detail, and originality; an ongoing battle between heaving dissonance and harmonic breakthrough with an intimate sense of trance and momentum. By the sharp edge of light and sound, his last solo album « Même Soleil » is an haunting dialogue with photographer Gaël Bonnefon ; other recent collaborations include sonic works with Irena Z. Tomazin, Mondkopf, Jerusalem In My Heart, Christine Ott, Gaspar Claus, Bérangère Maximin and Richard Knox.

In a "hit and run", and by adopting primary recording methods to produce a "dirty" sound , deliberately opposed to the sanitized sonorites of a certain popular music. The band goes deep into spontaneous compo- sitions in real time. After the recording, the band chooses the best track moments and continues working by adding overdubs or sound experiments. Ubiquitous and creative, Louis Jucker – singer, songwriter, theatre musician, producer and curator of events – is an indispensable part of the Swiss musical scene. Born in 1987, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, he studied architecture before building up his multifarious do-it-yourself activities as a practicing "full-time punk musician". As the powerful voice and frontman of the mathcore punk band Coilguns, he has toured all of Europe and beyond. He composes theatre music and poetic folk songs for himself and his growing entourage of artists; tinkers with his homemade instruments and special recording techniques, and works on cross-disciplinary projects with visual artist Augustin Rebetez and actors Joël Maillard and Camille Mermet, among others. In autumn 2020, he published his musical self-portrait ("Something went wrong"), a retrospective of the first 30 years of his life and career. Louis Jucker is a founding member of the Hummus Records label and the Some of the Missing Ones festival

Aurian is a DJ now based in Paris who likes to explore all the genres of electronic music. His mixes allways end up to be a blend of those diverse influences, with the only objective to make you dance.

This is a mix I recorded were I navigated between breaked rythm, trancy house and more ghetto tech influenced track. The goal was to produce a mix made for the dancefloors without neglecting a certain form of softness and introspection.
