With a Palestinian ancestry, the US-born, London-and-Amman-raised, Brooklyn-based Felonious Funk is an embodiment of a ‘child of the world’.

Inspired by the life and times of American jazz icon Thelonious Monk, Felonious Funk is a self-described musical soul who was never very good at colouring inside the lines. Alongside her curation for radio shows and funky getdowns, she’s also an international lawyer who does screenwriting on the side, telling #SceneNoise that she is “serious about not taking things too seriously.”

Offering a blissful hour of disco, funk, soul, and jazz by the likes of Peter Brown, Purple Disco Machine, DJOKO, and a host more, we challenge you to remain still through Felonious Funk’s Select 136.

Two times 45 minutes of original music by Cloudface and Powder. All recorded in Tokyo, Japan in early 2016. Brought to you on a C90 cream colored cassette by wichelroede.

We met Cloudface in 2015 at the Rewire Festival in The Hague, and spoke about the idea of working together. We stayed in touch, and in March 2016 the Vancouver artist went to visit Tokyo in search for new equipment and synthesizers. During this trip Cloudface performed a live set at INS Studio, Shibuya, where resident producer Powder (Moko Shibata) joined him during that late evening to play live as well.

Cloudface and Powder teamed up again, now for a wichelroede tape release. The recording of Cloudface’s live set from that special event covers side A (Dogen-zaka refers to the neighborhood where INS is located), while Powder takes on the B-side with previously unreleased tracks, presented here to you as an ongoing mix.

No need to describe how this sounds – If you are looking for exciting new electronic music, this is it! With releases on Mood Hut and Going Good, Cloudface has proven his singular sound within the ever growing electronic landscapes, while Powder can without any doubt be considered as one of the breakthrough artists of this year.

Solid Steel (4th August) In Hour 1 we welcome back Bambooman, ahead of the release of his debut album 'Whispers' coming out on Accidental Records, (the label founded by Matthew Herbert ). He told us;
"I had so much fun collecting the music for, and recording this mix. I wanted the mix to include a broad range of the music and styles that have inspired or feel of a similar vein to me, to the music heard on my forthcoming 'Whispers' album, be it music from friends and close associates such as the beautiful  tracks from Crewdson, Beatrice Dillon, Elsa Hewitt, Jehst, Rian Treanor  and Suplington, old minimal classics from the likes of Marc Barreca  and Jon Hassell, through to tracks from legends such as Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Fell. And onwards to amazing artist I have discovered in the last few years such as Aesthete, DPI, GOAT (Japan), Huerco S , Sun Araw and Visible Cloaks. There's also a couple of bits in there from me from the forthcoming album, which hopefully give a good vibe of what to expect. Enjoy!"
