Northern Californian composer/pianist Telemakus new LP ‘The New Heritage’ has finally arrived. This incredible body of work showcases Telemakus genius as a completely self taught instrumentalist and bandleader, showcasing highly creative composition and arrangement and resulting in an inspired record tackling themes of exploration, wonder, and innocence. This album’s foundation lies at the intersection of jazz and hip hop, playing into the heritage of jazz-sampling artists who turned their hands to instruments and discovered new musical dimensions and complexities. Featuring producers and musicians from 11 different countries, Telemakus sought out to create the most seamless body of work possible with a focus on maintaining a live sound, working tirelessly from his own bedroom over the past year and a half writing melodies, arranging instrumentation and communicating with his friends and collaborators, including CARRTOONS, Corydrums, Chino Corvalán, Javier Santiago, Thomas Pridgen and more. Telemakus - The New Heritage (12" Vinyl - Out now)

Unwind Project, the Italian duo is back with an incredible new song featuring German producer Lazlow. For months they sent ideas and recordings back and forth and this tune is the result of a perfect blend between the styles of each producer. Pomelo was titled after the fruit as it symbolizes a refreshing sound for the summer days. The idea came from a beautiful jazzy piano line that the musicians built upon, adding inspiring keys and guitar solos complimented by joyful back vocals. Sending lots of sweet, innocent and hopeful vibes to the listener.

Unwind Project - Pomelo (ft. Lazlow)

Here’s the new song by Chino Corvalán and Victor Alvarez titled Sadunas. A beautiful and intense jazz production that feels original and refreshing. Sadunas is the first single and great introduction taken from Chino Corvalán’s new album project titled Endless Era. The project is modern jazz at its finest, every song was written and mixed by Chino himself and he invited incredible musicians to perform such as Ted Taforo, Victor Alvarez and Telemakus among others.

Urban Waves is happy to present KaspaHauser to the label's roster and as the first entry in our new single series. This time around the theme is "Sound of Nature" the series will feature new and returning artists that will take the concept and work on tracks with Nature as the main source of inspiration!
With this new song titled “Rain Dance”, the Jazz head KaspaHauser creates a soothing atmosphere with the use of jazzed out chords on the Rhodes. The laid back tune is complimented by a catching synth lead, a funk infused bassline and well textured drums that are smartly mapped out. The song is inspired by the fleeting feeling of euphoria while dancing under the rain. The artist wanted to create a wholesome experience with an organic sound drawing form genres such as Jazz-Hop, Jazzy electronica and Lo-fi beats. The result is simply magical. Just kick back put your headphones on, close your eyes and let the music take you away!

Urban Waves present “Hen’s Teeth” the third single taken out of the upcoming album release by Shatter Hands. We’ve been fans of Yellow Spoon for a while, their sparse instrumentation and their approach towards their unique sound is absolutely amazing. The duo consists of Christoffer Holm Clausen on bass, keys and synth and Rasmus Riis Sitarz on drums and percussion.  For this song Shatter Hands got his hands on some recordings from one of their jam sessions, as well as a carte blanche to do what he wanted with them. He fell in love with this particular take and listened to it for hours. And ended up reworking the melody, doing some drum work, then added some effects and structured it to become his own take on a Yellow Spoon jam. The track makes you want to either cruise slowly, sitting in the passenger seat of a car, or dance late at night in a smoky nightclub.

Shatter Hands is a sucker for weird and funny track titles with double meaning and he rarely works within this tempo and bounce, hence the saying and the title “Hen’s teeth”.

Hope Song is the perfect song to introduce my new album. Endless Era is the collection of music I wrote in the last part of the pandemic, it was a true and honest moment of creating music, specially with my friends Telemakus and Ted Taforo, we’ve been collaborating and sharing music for the last 3 years, and the process was so natural and fluid. Mainly because we think the same way when it comes to the process of music creation.

Here's the second single from the upcoming EP by Lofty & jaackson!
New Again is a song that was created to innovate on something familiar.  Drawing equally from jazz, funk and hip hop, this lofi groove incorporates heavy syncopation, a melodic bassline, sprawling piano chords and lush synth pads.  New Again echoes many of  the artist's inspirations, including Parliament/Funkadelic, J Dilla and Robert Glasper.
The EP is following the coming of age of a young musician, this second track happens a few years later in the early life of our musician as he's now in his teenage years and a student of music!

Here's a long overdue collab with Mecca:83 who brought us a wonderful track for our Sounds of Nature series!
Mecca:83's studio overlooks fields so it's only natural that his track titles end up reflecting times and seasons in nature. Morning Mists was created on a suitably dewy morning, just as the sun was rising. Giving the track a sense of awakening, and the feeling of a great day starting.  The production itself is primarily built from layers of jazz, library and soul records, with a dash of live percussion to make it a touch more organic. Morning Mist transpose us to a place with magical scenery and provides with a breath of fresh air. Enjoy!
