This mix goes one full circle of BPMs, starting at 70 and going up to 140. I wanted to make a mix that strays away from my usual mixes of a slow, growing progression, of many layers and focus more on a selection of tracks I love, old and new. This is not about showcasing new music or about this normal mixtape concept but more like one of those old mixes of your favourite tracks taped from the radio ;) I embraced the fact that Pingipung are open to anything and this allowed me to experiment a bit more and put in tracks I wouldn't normally consider, from jazz to old-school Deep Medi Dubstep. Big thanks to Pingipung for the invite!!

This month’s episode on Mouthfull is a special episode of Under The Apricot Tree.

For most of October I was lucky to travel through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. 

Throughout the trip I collected music I heard in taxis, restaurants, the street, 15th century madrassas and 3500m above sea level, as well as field recordings taken while walking around city centres and mountains, on buses, 
marshrutkas and trains.

On the show tonight you’ll hear pop, traditional and a mix of both, from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia and Belarus. The music that people listen to varies widely and is still shaped by their shared history as part of the USSR and their neighbours today.

"Wondering over here if living on other planets would also implement the enjoyment of strolling through a jazz bar. would we  gather there, look back in nostalgic awe and sorrow of what beauty we left back on earth, bringing forward sweet memories with some spacey horn sounds and gloomy piano sessions? future moments will tell. until then please feel right at home in the interplanetary jazz lounge where time and money are just human concepts and inconsistencies.
 
I guess deeply rooted this mix was inspired by my father's taste in music back when I was still in the crib. i remember hearing spacey and loungy jazz tunes right from the getgo. those kind of sounds will stay with me for ever and constantly close circles of some sort."
