GILLU AKA HARMONIUSZ presents 'Music Forms Vol 4 @ Chill Out Sessions'. Harmoniusz aka Mariusz Gil is a DJ and bass guitar player from Poland, a member of New Moon. In the early years he played the bass guitar, then he fell in love with DJing. Already as a bass player he collaborated with DJs, and he has been on stage since 2011. Harmoniusz attaches great attention to details. He arranges the smallest details and is known for his thorough approach to the "subject". Mathematical, perfectly ordered sounds create a very specific and consistent musical journey. He plays mainly chill out, in different, usually lighter variations. This live mix was recorded at his home studio.

Interesting clothes, very pretty faces. And the music is just rolling and rolling for a sold 100 minutes starting with an ease and a deep look inside, just to let us forget about it and enjoy the colorful creation of the Universe.

It is a DJ set by drS with some live vocals, guitars and synths by Ether Eye.

*What pushed you towards music production? Where did the inspiration come from?

drS: Mostly from other music which I have listened to at home since early childhood, or experienced live at clubs, parties and concerts. DJing has a big role as well - it helps me to create dancefloor-friendly ideas and arrangements.

Ether Eye: I was ten when I decided I wanted to play music but really got the ball rolling in my early teenage years. First singing and playing guitar. Then I started to set my mind to saxophones. That really started my interest in collecting different kinds of instruments and all kinds of equipment, gear and stuff that makes interesting sounds. Traditional instruments like wooden flutes and drums too. The natural course of development was that I became interested also about the sort of electronics and things that can change the sound of an instrument to something completely different. Synthesizers, effects pedals, bended toys etc. 

* Do you think music interconnects with culture? How does the environment you live in affect your music?

drS: Us Finns are often seen as sort of quiet and reserved people who love nature and don’t mind solitude that much. I definitely feel these kinds of elements are present in my music. If I came from another culture, there would be something else instead.

Ether Eye: I get my inspiration from traveling around and seeing places. I definitely love to grasp and get to know a new culture. Then again I do enjoy my solitude in the Finnish countryside when recording and mixing all gathered experiences together. Smart, enthusiastic and interesting people inspire me too. Those kinds of people are usually behind the movies I watch, the books I read and the music I listen to.

* Do you get inspired by any other form of art?

drS: Cinema is a huge part of my life, almost up there with music. Visual art in general is very inspiring.

Ether Eye: Yes, visual art and cinema. When I was a kid I watched Music Television and movies all the time. I’m also really sensitive to all sorts of visual stimuli.  

* What makes a set a good one?

drS: The best ones tell a story - there is drama, peaks and troughs, tension and release, tracks that stand out, and everything comes together in a coherent arc. But a set is good if it simply makes me dance.

Ether Eye: In general, I believe more in personality and finding your own voice rather  than skills in music. I mean if your involvement is total, you can do anything you like and do it well. 

* What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead?

drS: A bit of both. I usually set limits to how and what I should play, and once I get into the flow, I can start to break those limits.

* What would you like to say about your podcast?

drS & Ether Eye: This is the first time we have combined a DJ set with live vocals and instruments, but it was a lot of fun, so we will certainly develop the concept further! Musically it’s pretty diverse, while staying on the organic house / modern disco spectrum. It works equally on dancefloors and home listening situations. All in all it’s much like our EP!
