Encounters Holotropic Happy Hour Mix - Spring 2023

The first episode of the OVER THE MOON Label Series, featuring ENCOUNTERS with this studio mix titled "Free World". In 2021, for DJ Maggie's birthday, Evan Bluetech came forward with a special idea: starting the label "Over the Moon." He recognized that Maggie had the perfect mix of skills for running a record label. Her keen sense for picking out gems in the downtempo genre, coupled with her vast network of artist relationships, made her an ideal choice. While Evan initially collaborated on the label's foundation, he's since stepped into an advisory role, providing insights while DJ Maggie takes the helm as the driving force behind Over the Moon. ENCOUNTERS is the brainchild of Tyler Hovestadt, a producer based in the Bay Area. With a unique style that blends ambient, downtempo, and live percussion, Encounters explores the intersection of organic musicality and electronic experimentation. About the mix, Encounters says: "In celebration of the recent release of my remix album, 'A Path Beyond Remixed', I've curated this mix to provide a serene and tranquil experience—much needed in the trying times we find ourselves in. Featuring tracks from Over the Moon Music and its sister label, Behind the Sky, the mix also includes some of my own unreleased music. My aim is to offer a musical respite that allows listeners to momentarily escape the challenges and stresses of the world by embracing a soothing and calming atmosphere."

DJ MAGGIE brings you this "Fizziology" titled DJ set about which she says: "The majority of this mix was recorded live as an opening set for Moontribe's New Year's Day Vibe 2024 in Los Angeles. Since I ended that set with unreleased music, I trimmed the last two tracks and added two tracks to the beginning in the studio. Some new music mixed with some classic favorites!" DJ Maggie carefully curates the best of downtempo electronic into lush, playful and deeply replenishing sets that invite listeners on shimmering audio odysseys. Evolving her own brand of intuitive sound at the legendary Southern California desert gatherings of the groundbreaking Moontribe Collective, Maggie has played for a wide range of events, from festivals like Ozora and Astronox, to intimate yoga retreats and desert campouts. In 2021, she launched her own imprint, Over the Moon Music, to further cement her role as an avid advocate for the downbeat, and has released music from notable luminaries such as Bluetech, Kaya Project, Erothyme, Encounters, and Wolf Tech.

The Over The Moon series continues with EROTHYME. Erothyme' sound is a majestic blend of overblown hyperbole and meaningless adjectives that actually have nothing to do with music. His tracks land in your ear like a dolphin gracefully diving into the surface of the ocean after doing a triple backflip in front of the setting sun. About this mix, he says: "This mix features every track from my latest release, Life Sidereal (Behind the Sky Music, 2024), as well as a number of other tunes from the past decade. Life Sidereal was written around the concept of a long interstellar journey to a world in orbit around a distant star. It also served, for me, as an initiatory exploration of analogue and modular synthesis, which previously was mostly outside of my creative domain. Life Sidereal was produced in the time from 2020-2023, while I was also formally beginning my journey as a student of astrophysics. Many other tunes of mine from over the years share similarly cosmic flavors of inspiration, so I had a lot of options for branching out musically in this mix while keeping more or less to the theme. Quite a few previously unimagined mashups managed to happen here. For me, this provided a new way of hearing many of these tracks. I hope that they manage to tickle your ears, brain, & heart, as they do to mine. May you ever dwell in the thick of cosmic serendipity as you navigate the expanse of space & time, and may the starlight guide you home!"

Encounters @ Infrasound 2024

Over The Moon presents BLUETECH with his "26 Bones" titled mix in this episode. Bluetech is a classically trained musician who has been releasing electronic music since 2003 and has over 30 releases to his name. He has toured internationally, shared stages with some of the biggest names in electronic music, scored video games, won awards for his short film scores, and continues to invest in and build community around electronic music. After his two self-released albums charted on Billboard in 2019 (at #10 and #5), he decided to expand his label to include other artists, and since then, Behind The Sky has become a well-respected purveyor of analog and modular synth music.  The concept behind this mix was to explore downtempo, deep house, and balearic mutant house vibes. In my sets, I aim to keep it dreamy yet still danceable, not afraid to get a little sultry and steamy as the story evolves. The mix evolves from bright and cheery to deep and tribal over 26 tracks. In a human foot, there are 26 bones, the structural support of a proper wiggle.

"Against The Grain 2" is the long-awaited follow-up to one of TREAVOR MOONTRIBE's most popular mixes. It takes listeners on a deep journey through abstract electronica, downtempo, and ambient soundscapes—music that defies convention, psychedelic yet subtly so. Treavor Moontribe co-founded the Los Angeles-based "Moontribe Collective" and its iconic full moon desert gatherings. Since 1993, these events have been integral to Southern California's underground electronic music scene and continue to this day. Through these gatherings, Treavor established himself as a prominent DJ in LA, leading to performances worldwide, including Brazil, Japan, Morocco, Portugal, Germany, and across North America. His DJ sets are distinguished by their diversity, reflecting his broad musical tastes spanning multiple genres. Over the years, Treavor has also gained recognition as a music producer, releasing work under various project names. His most notable collaboration is Desert Dwellers, a project with partner Amani Friend. Recently, Treavor launched a solo venture called PheuZen, exploring more abstract forms of electronica.

This Lost Minute is presented by NIAC, a Budapest-based DJ and producer, who has been exploring sound since 2012. His early ventures included hip-hop and dubstep, with a few hip-hop instrumental releases before he took a break from music. In 2018, he rediscovered his passion through house music, re-emerging under the name Niac—a fresh chapter in his musical journey.  Before stepping into the club scene, Niac spent years perfecting his mixing skills at home, recording sets solely for himself. Once he took his craft live, he quickly found his place behind the decks and became a resident of the Kattarzis series, from its early underground beginnings.  A dedicated vinyl collector, Niac has released numerous digital tracks and has two vinyl releases to his name.

On the Way to Daad Gathering 2025, we are joined by CHRISS RONSON who will be playing at the Am/Beach stage this summer. Budapest-born Chriss Ronson began his DJ career in 1994 and quickly became a prominent figure in Hungary's electronic music scene. As a resident at iconic clubs like Club Korona and Pacha Hungary, he shared stages with legends like John Digweed and Sasha. His performances have taken him to global venues and festivals, including Tokyo, Love Parade in Berlin, Creamfields, and Balaton Sound. Founder of Foundation Records, Chriss has released acclaimed tracks played by top DJs worldwide and has created mix albums such as Renaissance Hungary. Known for his unique style and ability to craft unforgettable atmospheres, he remains a key player in the international electronic music scene.

He's also the founder of Plug & Lay, an event series and biweekly show on Tilos Radio. Since 2011 he has been working also as the head of RTS.FM's Budapest studio. Originally producing Psychedelic Trance as Psycho Abstract, he launched Lab’s Cloud in 2004 to explore deeper, more organic soundscapes. His music is often described as a smooth, ethereal journey—blending floating atmospheres, deep textures, and acoustic elements with field recordings to create a sublime, immersive experience. About this Between Worlds studio mix, FAELOW says: "This mix serves as a bridge between the otherworldly fascinations that have been the focus of my discography to date and the more earthly sounds I've been exploring recently. I hope it takes you to places that are near and far, strange and familiar."  FAELOW’s work has always been about creating spaces that embody feelings. Faelow’s fascination with spaces started at a young age, with a focus on painting surreal landscapes. The ethereal calmness evoked by environments filled with teal pigments gave way to his moniker, a phonetic spelling of the blue-green pigment phthalo. After turning to audio as his primary means of exploration, Faelow’s work has focused on creating immersive stereo images that paint a world in the listeners imagination, populated by an ecosystem of auditory entities.

Over The Moon features ENCOUNTERS in this episode. Encounters, from Bay Area based producer Tyler Hovestadt, is a downtempo electronic project blending ambient, downtempo, and live percussion that seeks to find balance between organic musicality and electronic exploration. In August 2022, Encounters released his debut "A Path Beyond" followed by "A Path Beyond Remixed" in 2023, and “Circuit Breaks” in 2024 with “Veil of Echoes”, his first full length album, scheduled for release near the end of 2025. Encounters has performed electronic music festivals in Europe and America including appearances at Astronox, Infrasound and Stilldream, as well as supporting renowned artists such as Carbon Based Lifeforms, Bluetech, Desert Dwellers and Kaya Project. This "The Other Side" studio mix: "is about transitions: the quiet spaces between chapters, between clarity and confusion. It’s where I’ve found myself lately, in the fog, in the drift, somewhere in between. This mix weaves together new remixes and unreleased music from my upcoming album, Veil of Echoes; pieces that have been slowly taking shape over time. I hope these sounds offer you space to feel, reflect, or just breathe for a while."
