Liquid Soul Essential Mix Vol.6 (2016)

The Electric Universe project was founded in 1991 in Hamburg, Germany. Being inspired by the first big Voov Experience party, some of his first psytrance orientated tracks found their way to DJ Antaro, who had just started his label Spirit Zone. The Electric Universe "Solar Energy" maxi single was the second release on Spirit Zone. It turned out to be a big hit and set the ground for the first album “One Love” in 1994. More and more Trance parties were taking place and Electric Universe started to play, mainly in Germany at first, later all around the globe.

1997 was the year of the "Stardiver" album, with the breakbeat monster "Online Information", which blew away the dance floors everywhere. In 1999 Roland Wedig joined Electric Universe and the result of the first cooperation was the track "Meteor" on the "Blue Planet" album. This kicking tune, with its expressive guitar lines was played on practically every party for well over a year and probably is the most often played guitardriven psytrance tune of all times. In 2004 “Cosmic Experience” was released including the "Prayer" track, outstanding through the amazing vocals of an Indian prayer. Because of the closing down of Spirit Zone Records in 2005 this album was the last one in more than ten years of cooperation with Antaro's label.

Boris Blenn, psytrance producer of the very first hour has enriched the dance floors of the planet with hundreds of live performances and many hit tunes over the years. With far over 150,000 records sold, Boris is one of the top producers of the scene. The core of the Electric Universe productions and performances has to be its infectious, uplifting energy. It is about bliss and of course to make people dance and enjoy themselves.

Boris Blenn is also successfully working on several side projects such as Jupiter 8000 on Nova Tekk/Liquid Audio/Avatar Records. The chill project Galaxy had its first two releases on Blue Room. The third Galaxy album "Science of Ecstasy", released on Chillcode in 2005, got No. 1 in the Official German Chill Out Charts.

Lots of cooperations have been happening with artists such as DJ Sangeet, S.U.N. Project, GMS, Four Winds Circle, and especially Olli Wisdom (Space Tribe).

On Saturday afternoon on our way to Ozora our guide will be CHANCHA VIA CIRCUITO. During the talk w/ Pedro Canale we can listen to a couple of fresh tracks of the band.

This odd name is the alter ego for Argentinian producer, Pedro Canale. His music suggest a reformulation of Latin American World Music processing Brazil rhythms, paraguayan harps, andean mystic, folklore from the argentinian Pampa and, of course, cumbia. His seductive formula became a key reference for many artists who are now part of the Latin American Electronic music scene. With álbum “Rio Arriba” (2012) Chancha Vía Circuito put South American folklore on dancefloors around the world. Acclaimed in media like the Washington Post and The New York Times, his work was required by Gilles Peterson from BBC1 for his Project “Havana Remixed”, and also released remixes for artists like The Ruby Suns (Sub Pop) and Gotan Project (Ya Basta/ XL Recordings). His greatest media exposure came the following year by the hand of a meth manufacturer. Just like you read it: his great remix of José Larralde’s “Quimey Neuquén” was chosen for the popular TV series “Breaking Bad”. In that scene we see the dark character Walter White burying his millions in the desert, trapped by the surround Chancha Vía Circuito’s groove.
Pedro Canale is regarded as a cult artist for the most avant-garde electronic music circles. This characteristic has led him to be part of the program of bold events such as Mutek Montreal. He also has been part of the lineup of festivals like Roskilde (Denmark), Sonar (Spain), Calvi on the Rocks (France) and Vive Latino (México). Besides, he has gotten the attention and applause of prestigious media like Pitchfork, NPR, BBC, KEXP, Radio3, Earmilk, MTV Iggy, Vice, and The Fader. Chancha Vía Circuito’s last work is “Amansara” (2014) and was released by belgian record label Crammed Disc in Europe and Asia, and by Wonderwheel Recordings in U.S.A. and Oceania.

Looney Moon Records series presents MUTALIENS. Behind the project are Matt Mutalien a.k.a. Contineum and Zaythen Mutalien a.k.a. Dj Zarvox, both UK based producers who have embarked on the journey of making a psychedelic adventure in the swamped drenched mystical dream written in the future past.

Matts musical journey started when he was 9 when he was given acoustic guitar lessons, but these didn’t last too long and at the tender innocent age of 13 that all fell away when his parents bought him his first ever set of decks. Matt has seen many different genres from Drum n Bass and hiphop to dub step, tech funk, breaks and now firmly set in psychedelic trance. Having previously helped running a uk and london based party called Atom matt moved into more musical territory with first the Mutation of Mutagen Records then quickly followed Contineum his more hybrid future cross uk style of full on psytrance. Now he is embarking on new musical journey with a more psychedelic style of music with Mutaliens.
Zaythens musical tripsy tipsy walk towards musical adventures started out as a drum and bass DJ on the Brighton Scene back in the late 90’s
He has always had a love for music and is very passionate about people and the musical arts, he loves to make the dance floor thump and did it style with many different genres including Rock, Metal, Jazz, Classical, and all types of dance music from Acid house, Happy hardcore, Jungle, Drum and bass and techno.He re entered the party scene in the early 00’s when he discovered Industrial he loved the experimental and harsh edges of this sound and spent some time exploring this and even managed to get a few gigs here and there but the real change happened when he was invited to his first psytrance party back in 2006 called Wonkey Disco he loved the dynamic sound and from that day forth was devoted to the psy scene.

He got his first big break on the psy scene back in 2009 when he got the chance to play on the Kaplic solar stage at Waveform festival and after this he slowly started to get more and more work and is now a well established London Psytrance DJ who has played at some of London’s biggest parties including Shattered Barriers, Freakyhertz, Quantum mind, Cohesion, Boogie Woogie, Hackona mattata and many more and he recently played at symmetry festival. Zarvox style encompasses a mixture of full on and more psychedelic acidic style.

Influences range from the more deep progressive dark artists such as Sensient, Hypogeo, Merkaba, Hellquist, Psrialife, tetrameth, and moving into the more psychedelic styles of such artists as Dirty Saffi, Chris Rich, Module Virus, Fagens Reject, Reality Grid, Southwild, EVP, Whiptounge, Axail Tilt, Assioma, to name a few.

New Music coming soon, being cooked in the Mutaliens Cave based in the deepest reaches of the planet to hide from the masses.

FROSTBITE presents ‘Overview Effect Mix’ featuring all the tracks from their new compilation ‘Overview Effect’, released 12th June on One Foot Groove Records.

Frostbite is Miguel Letria (Unretro) and Ricardo Estanislau (Valac), both from Lisbon, Portugal.
These two friends decided to join forces to bring you a fun and refreshing interpretation of PsyTrance. Their DJ sets take you on a ride ranging from the slower progressive grooves to the more intense psychedelic tunes, showing their versatility and allowing them to perfectly fit in whatever time slot they’re assigned.  Besides playing all over Portugal, their sets have also reached dancefloors in France, Ireland, Switzerland and India.
Frostbite is part of the South African label One Foot Groove Records where they work as Label and Artist Managers.  Their first compilation “Travel Agency” was released in 2015 with great success, reaching #1 and #4 on Juno Download and Beatport’s respective charts.  In 2016 they were invited to join the Austrian label 24/7 Records.  In June 2017 they are releasing their second compilation on One Foot Groove Records called “Overview Effect”.

On the 32nd episode of Zero-1 Music label showcase you can listen to K.I.M. presenting his recently released first artist album titled “The Real KIM Shady“. As always, the chat will be followed by and exclusive album mix.

K.i.M (Joakim Fogelmark’s) passion for music started already an early age, spending all his pocket money on Metal and 70’s rock records. He got his first guitar when he was 9 and was banging on a drum kit by the age of 11. Throughout his teenage years he played in various bands in Sweden. He found his love for Psy-Trance when a friend took him to his first party back in ’93. KIM was completely blown away by the music and the atmosphere. But it was not in till 1999, while based in London that he bought his first studio equipment and began producing Psy-Trance, Techno and Minimal House , and DJ-ing in various parties around the Globe.
In 2009 he started to work on his debut album, but his fate was altered when one foggy Christmas eve in Goa in 2010,
his house was burgled while he was at a rave, and he lost every piece of music he ever made (backups and all).
That didn’t phase our hero, and the following year he set up a studio in Vagator, Goa called the Ratcave, where over a six month period he wrote a bunch of new tracks and had a chance to collaborate with some top producers who passed the season in Goa.
Kim’s first release “Party In The Woods” came on Grasshopper Records, Japan in 2012, and was very well received.
Today, when Kim is not flying around the world , he is in his smoke-filled studio working on his collaboration projects ; Filterheads, and The Rave Commission, or producing his debut album ‘The Real K.I.M Shady’ ( out in June on Zero One Music. )
