Sofa Beats presents "2020", the electronic music project of the Iranian artist Amin Moeini, hailing from Fars Province in Southern Iran. A self-taught musician, he produced and published his first piece of music in 2018, which was initially met by DJ Shahar's support, the very same musician who played Amin's first single at the 2018 Boom Festival. About the project name, the artist says:  "Number 2020 brings together the energies and attributes of the number 2 and number 0, both appearing twice, amplifying their influences. Number 2 resonates with the vibrations and attributes of service and duty, balance, and harmony, adaptability, and diplomacy, cooperation and consideration, receptivity and love. Number 2 also relates to partnerships and relationships, intuition and insight, faith and trust, and serving your Divine life purpose and soul mission. Number 0 carries the energies of the ‘God’ force and Universal Energies and reinforces the vibrations of the numbers it appears with. Number 0 resonates with developing one’s spiritual aspects, the beginning of a spiritual journey, eternity, infinity, oneness, wholeness, continuing cycles, and flow, and the beginning point." This is an album mix of 2020's upcoming (release date: Oct 23, 2023) remix album called 'V R 1'.

2020 | Sofa Beats Series Ep. 69 | 15/11/2023

Sofa Beats presents THE BITZPAN, a downtempo / electronica music project from Athens, Greece, by artists Panos Nikolaou and Yannis Bitzanis. They use a mixed technique of digital - analog equipment to create their own personal sound of various soundscapes, atmospheres and downtempo musical designs. Overlapping downtempo gender offers the audience a wide musical odyssey, from chilled to ecstatic grooves. It's a deeper plunge into the raw analog sound synthesis, an exploration of instruments and technics dialoguing harmonically with each other, an understanding of the physics of sound and a try to blend it. The Bitzpan duo combines several times classic psychedelic and techno elements with mid tempo grooves, analog drums, rhythmic basses, trippy modular melodies and organic instrument layers. The journey into electronic music production began back in 2002 and never stopped ever since. This set contains tracks from The Bitzpan's upcoming release as well.

THE BITZPAN | Sofa Beats Series Ep. 70 | 08/06/2024

BANYATTI is a newly formed Downtempo & Deep Trance project from the UK, created by Steve OOOD and Simon Psydwards. Steve OOOD, best known for his work with the band 'OOOD,' has been releasing psychedelic dance music for years. Simon began writing electronic music in the early 2000s and released his first track, “Chatter Box,” on Free-Spirit Records in 2019 after a busy festival season. The two first collaborated on the singles 'Answers of Vibrations'—Banyan Remix by Psydwards—on Phantasm Records as the world reopened post-pandemic, followed by a track 'Yr Wyddfa' on Steve OOOD's album 'Enter The Stream' in 2022. This collaboration led to the creation of Banyatti. The live set contains tracks from Banyatti's latest release 'The Flower and the Bee' and some older tracks as well.

Sofa Beats presents I.M.D in this episode with a live set that contains fresh tracks from I.M.D. and also some older ones and some unreleased ones. I.M.D. is Marco Cajero (Mexico, based in Berlin, Germany). I.M.D began in 2012, initially exploring Progressive-Psy sounds. In 2016, he shifted his focus to Psychill and Downtempo Psychedelia, crafting melodic, slightly psychedelic, and groovy music. His creations, made from the heart, aim to bring listeners an experience of joy and love.  I.M.D's first two albums were released on Altar Records, and he continues to release music on labels like Mystic Sound Records, Astropilot Music, Arcelya Records, and Ovnimoon Records. In 2018 and 2019, he performed at the Lotus Stage at Shankra Festival (Switzerland), as well as other festivals, including Transylvania Calling (Romania), Psyght (Slovenia), Mit Dir Festival (Germany), Galactic Fest (Poland), Odysee Festival NYE (Germany), Psycristrance (Mexico), Katarsis (Spain), and Psychedelicious (Czech Republic).

Itay KUKAN DUB LAGAN is bringing some sunshine for smiling people into the first edition of a new radiOzora show, the Sofa Beats series with a special mix following the talk.

KUKAN-DUB-LAGAN is the project of Itay Berger. Itay is 40 years old, located in Barcelona, Spain. He has been listening and playing electronic music since he was 16 years old. He spent over 3 years working as a sound engineer in one of the top sound and light companies in Israel.
His decision to make music was strongly influenced by his trip to Ibiza in 1997-8. At that time he also started to preform in Israel and abroad at mostly underground parties. Itay's general musical influences are wide-ranging. His journey into chill-out djing started in 2002 in Israel. During that time he was also signed by a UK techno-house label (www.klubdj.co.uk) under the name DJ Itay for a year and flew to Japan to play at parties in Osaka and Kyoto. Returning back to Israel, he enrolled to sound engineering college for one year and totally committed himself to music composition. Drawing from his djing experience, his early family musical influences as well as his own musical background he created his chill-out project: KUKAN-DUB-LAGAN.

Interview with GLOBULAR | Sofa Beats Series Vol. 2 | 09/12/2015

The Desert Dwellers bring us the 3rd edition of Sofa Beats with some sonic incensed otherworldly traveling without moving.

Desert Dwellers consists of Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, each of whom began their careers as independent music producers and DJs in the deserts of New Mexico and California. Coming together in the late 1990s after connecting through the Moontribe events in the deserts outside Los Angeles, today the duo enjoys a reputation as one of the most pioneering and prolific downtempo acts in the United States. Their collaborative power has resulted in numerous fulllength albums, remix projects for other artists, and EPs for labels like Black Swan, Twisted, and their own label Desert Trax, among many others.

After the initial success of their “DownTemple Dub” series, the Desert Dwellers have spent the past three years at some of the most prominent international music festivals. In 2014, the pair embarked on a massive 7 week tour across the United States opening for world renowned Twisted Records artist Shpongle, then quickly followed up with a full summer of festivals including Boom (Portugal), Shambhala (Canada), Atmosphere (Israel), Burning Man, Coachella, and countless others across North America. They are currently finishing a new album called “The Great Mystery” which will be released in early 2015, and planning extensive touring through Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Europe, North America, and Canada in 2015 to support that record and bring joy to dance floors across the globe.

Taking a new approach on digital production, Amani & Treavor have combined the raw sounds of the natural world while skilfully blended deep bass, earthy percussion, etheric voices and crosscultural instrumentation into sonic incense for the mind and body. With this blend of sounds they provide listeners with a heightened sense of connection through their musical soundscapes. Desert Dwellers are one of the foremost influences in a genre that they have been “instrumental” in developing. Blending a variety of sources, their compositions form a heavily weaved set of sounds that have allowed them to establish themselves beyond their home base and around the world.

Bringing the electronic music vibe to the yoga scene, and the sounds of yoga to the electronic dance scene, Desert Dwellers’ global sounds are the bridge between the worlds of dance and movement. Interview with FLORIAN MSK | Zenon Records Series Vol.1 | 19/10/2016

Laci Papp aka. Subotage, label head and founder and 9b0, label artist are joining us for a track-studded talk live from the studio on Tuesday to present Selected Sounds’ second release and their very first V/A, Budapest Selected-The urban sound of Budapest in 2016.

On the 16th of September, Selected Sounds took a huge step forward as a record label releasing its first compilation Budapest Selected. The artists featured on the collection include iamyank, Volkova Sisters, mïus, 9b0, yvein monq and surfalone, which in itself already promises a wide spectrum of sounds.
Selected Sounds’s first release was iamyank’s full length, titled Hiraeth so it came naturally to include the artist that is so important for the label on Budapest Selected as well. Silence Pt. 2, a song written specifically for this compilation, is the continuation of one of Hiraeth’s songs which showcases iamyank’s wonderfully airy, narrative-driven style.

Another song uniquely composed for Budapest Selected is by yvein monq aka Gryllus Ábris, who is also the graphic designer of NVC and Selected Sounds. MOM is a robust footwork song hiding under a pitch-black hoodie that will never disappoint.

Mystique is also an important feature in Volkova Sisters’s Taksony, where Berger Dalma’s singular voice is paired with acoustic guitars, organic synth sounds and intimate field recordings. The trio reached new heights in its career by completing its first album, Blood Shapes This Faith.

Surfalone is a new project that debuts with its first song on Budapest Selected. Halszív goes back to the generation’s teenage years and reshapes a song by cult Hungarian indie-rock band Kispál és a Borz released in 1992. The cover version keeps the original’s main characteristics and recontextualizes it with electropop tools and Döbrös Laura’s singing.

Precious Moments, a song by mïus also represents a similar style, although with much less typically Hungarian features. It is definitely one of the most promising singles of the year, graced by Hegyi Dóri’s enchanting vocals.

9b0’s Through is a masterfully sculpted, engaging song giving us a first look into the world of Eleven, the artist’s second album that is about to be released in November on Selected Sounds.

The six-track-long release will offer a high-definition snapshot of the artists close to Selected Sounds as well as the creative scene of the city while it also outlines the label’s ambitious future plans. Keep an eye on Selected Sounds to find out about future releases. The compilation will be out on Beatport, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Deezer & pendrive.

Looking for the perfect beat, this how you can define Mike Stellar’s mission. Without confining to any particular style you can hear on his sets an explosive mix of bass, nu-jazz, breakbeat, deep-house, detroit techno, afrobeat and funk. What unites all this is Groove.
Since 1996 he’s been one the driving forces on the quality music scene in Portugal. First as a promoter, and later caught in the addiction of vinyl. Since then he was of the groundbreaking promoters & dj in Portugal, first with some legendary drum&bass parties in Lisbon and then moving to the jazznotjazz scene since 1999, introducing to Portugal people like Jazzanova, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Truby, Nicola Conte, The Amalgamation of Soundz, King Britt, Koop, Kyoto Jazz Massive, and many, many others. DJ GOVINDA of the Believe crew is joining us on air again with some goodness for this 3-in-1 feature show presenting Believe Lab’s newest release, the Jungle Calling compilation, and bringing us news of this last summer season and the upcoming one in Goa, topped with a special mix to wet your appetites.

Govinda is an Italian dj and psytrance party organizer. Born in 1986 to parents who had been traveling for many years, he grew up living in Goa experiencing its magic and freaky context from an early age. His first party in 1999 brought a full understanding of the Goa reality with its emphasis on freedom, and manifested his attraction to trance music. He started collecting music and playing it, at first with a Minidisc player and later with CDJs. In 2002, Govinda played his first dj set in the well-known Ninebar in Goa, thus marking the beginning of his dj career. He instantaneously loved the feeling of enjoyment he could provide through music and the palpable interconnection that forms on a dancefloor. After a practice season, he was soon playing in the main legendary party spots in Goa: Discovalley, Paradiso, Primrose, Monkey Valley, Hilltop and many more. In 2005, he was signed to Spun records (the GMS label). Two years later, he went on his first international tour where he played along artists such as GMS, Pixel, Alien Project, Spacecat, Domestic, Perplex and Psysex, in Thailand, Nepal, Goa as well as several European countries. During the Goa season of 2007/2008, Govinda started following a different vibe and looking for a more psychedelic sound that would best fit his personality. At the time, Phatmatix, Digital Talk and Concept were his favorite artists. At the Mountain Madness Festival in Nepal of 2008, he played a set right before Ajja and fell in love with his sound. The meeting also started a connection with Peak Records, which later led to Govinda being signed on as a label dj. While frequently performing at Goan hotspots such as Club Westend, Hilltop, Ninebar and Shivavalley, he created with a group of friends the NightRainbow Project, a Goa-based party organization responsible for more than ten parties in the first season of its existence. The sum of all his experiences finally took the the shape of the organization/label Believe Lab, founded by him and a few other fellas. Today Govinda and Believe Lab have been an important operator in international festivals in Italy, as Blackmoon Festival, Sonica. Believe Lab actively organized its own festival, 7 Chakras, where Govinda and his crew finally have the chance to promote positive messages as environmental awareness and self respect to people through music. His musical journey is not over yet and his dj sets are just fitting more and more any kind of psychedelic dancefloor.

“Noizhartt” (a.k.a. Ivo Matos) was born in Portugal in 1988. This is an highly noisy music project inspired in the distortion of time-space continuum and designed to overcome physical theories creating a black hole to destroy the entire galaxy. Brace yourselves!
“Mindless Apes” is the side project of Ivo Matos (a.k.a. Noizhartt), João Madeira (a.k.a. Clownik) and Daniel Barata (a.k.a. Dremo). Initially created by Ivo and João, this project quickly felt the need to expand more their creativity, eventually joining Daniel. Formed by three mindless apes, this project promises great mood, animation and great grooves full of imagination. WE DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT FUCKING COMMERCIALITY!!

“SuperSaiyajins” is the side project of Harley Gonzalez (a.k.a. Nykronds) and Ivo Matos (a.k.a. Noizhartt). After planet Vegeta’s death, this two Saiyajins joined forces and together they have successfully created a massive sound weapon. Two powerful warriors with a weapon of mass destruction in their hands are able to destroy everything in several seconds. Be careful, their mission is annihilate all kind of life existent in the twelve Universes!

In the Year 2002 Michael started his Dj carrier with playing Techno, House and Elektronik Beat’s.

2004 he met the 24/7 Crew and connected specially with Dj Astralex and his brother Riff Ruff, from thatmoment on he was very fount of this new style and excited about the driving basselines. 2 Years later he began to focus more on Psytrance rather then Techno.

In 2006 the first Gigs came up, and it was clear for him from this moment on that this would be his homebase.

MindFlip is the stage name of a 29-year old passionate Dj and musician based in lower Austria.
Since his early days he was always into music, learned to play Guitar and other Instruments and started to make music with others…

Over the years, Turntables and other introducers of the electronic kind of music crossed his path and the love for DJing, tweaking and mixing started to grow. After the small Organization & DJ-Collective “Mukkepack” was founded with his friends Kymantra & Suntrax back in 2012, lots of Partys and funny Gatherings took place under the same name with their mission in mind – to keep it pure!

Nowadays he loves to play Styles like Psytrance/FullOn/Twisted/Forest somewhere between 142-152 bpm, which are the main influences in his upcoming productions. Many dancefloors in & around austria has been banged in the past and they won’t be the last!

Gaudi’s innovative approach to live performance and versatility as a producer has kept him at the forefront of his field throughout a notable and prolific career. His music is stylistically hard to pin down as he is an artist in constant evolution. His musical exploration, over the last 30 years in the industry, has however seen him foray into punk, new wave, dub and reggae, world, experimental electronica and ‘stuff that rocks dancefloors’.. he has however got deep roots, which run like a vein throughout his music, and they are in the big basslines and spacious soundscapes of dub and the anarchic sonic potential of the world of electronic music… where anything’s possible.
A full time internationally touring solo artist, a studio producer in demand and a respected musical innovator. He’s had chart hits, gold discs and awards & nominations for his work; he has released 14 solo albums, more than 250 productions and 110 remixes to his name and his tracks feature on more than 120 compilations… There is however no resting on laurels for this London-based, international bass man.

Gumi is a downtempo elastic journey created by the prolific Tel Aviv producer Maor Hasbani.
In the late 90s Maor was engulfed by electronic music and started avidly collecting CDs and vinyl. Genres such as Ambient, IDM, Breakbeat, Acid, Space Rock, Jazz Fusion and so on, inspired him deeply and set him on a life mission of self- expression through music and sound. By elegantly fusing bold basslines, tribal rhythms, psychedelic atmospheres and ethnic melodies - Gumi’s modern production and analog sound has set a blaze some of the best dancefloors on the face of the planet. Also responsible for the internationally renowned psytrance project ‘Skizologic’, Maor has already rocked Boom Festival, Psy-Fi Festival, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Chill Out Planet Festival, Tribal Gathering Festival, Doof Festival, Samsara Festival and Dakini Festival to name a few, as well as extensively touring Japan and the USA. After releasing two critically acclaimed EPs, Gumi is set to unleash a full debut album in 2021 presenting his new spectrum of sounds and sophisticated storytelling.
