This month's Sub-Y-Dub-Y-Doo features the Hungarian dub, dubtechno and ambient producer SUBLOGIC. The sound of subLOGIC (Róbert Varga) is drawn on the ambient, deep dub, experimental line, and its musical world is characterized by careful beats, slow build-ups, layers and deep sounds. He is influenced by many and varied musical influences, yet he is trying to be independent of styles and genres: "We all have influences that can move us in different directions, but we always try to put our own spin on our music. You start from somewhere and most of the time it comes out completely different. You control the process, or the process controls you, but the point is that you create your own sound, which is also you."

Blood and Sacrifice

Arriving at the lake under ominous cloud-cover, the tent was pitched and I scouted a bit and found a sizable barge, beached, which I surmised might used as a floating stage. The long metal flotation cylinders produced deep steel-drum tones. With the threatening weather conditions, I chose to record them all as best I could (only two segments used here) even while a sailor, who had just loaded his boat onto his trailer, tried to negotiate the narrow paths with his truck in order to turn the rig around. Rather than take the chance of being soaked  or unable to record in the downpour that did arrive with ferocious elan one hour later, I decided to jam with the motor vehicle in medias res. I am joined later by various genrous accompanists: a nearby village horse-cart, a helicopter, some pyrotechnicians, other docking boats. VLF and some radio rounding out the sonoscene.

Here is the recording of my morning set on the main stage at Eclipse Festival 2016. It was a massive honor to be invited to play at this amazing gathering - Eclipse has been my favorite festival since I first attended back in '05, long before I was producing or performing. I chose my deepest tracks for this particular set - perfectly suited for the 7 am time slot. It's a good mix of remixes and originals - I hope you enjoy the journey!

Ben Rama - Live @ Eclipse Festival 2016

DJ Basilisk emerges from a long period of esoteric theorizing, conceptual regeneration, and diligent crate-digging to present Hermetic Expanse, a five-hour odyssey into hypnotic realms of underground electronic music. Originally conceived as a vehicle for showcasing the sound of Techgnosis Records (@techgnosis-records), the label he co-founded alongside Ben Rama (@benramamusic) in 2015, this mix features ten of his personal favorites from the label's burgeoning catalog. Situating the Techgnosis vibe in a wider context, this mix also features numerous selections from Digital Diamonds, Digital Structures, Horns and Hoofs Entertainment, Anarkick Records, IbogaTech, Boshke Beats, Zenon Records, and other fellow travellers of the psychedelic techno and minimal psytrance movements. The central core of the mix, a three-hour dance floor workout, was released as Techgnosis Sessions 024, but this full-length and uncut version features an additional two hours of melancholic electro, intricate and effusive IDM, experimental breakbeat techno, and dark ambient.
