Huge thanks for Ember Maze  and the Lusus Naturae crew for inviting me to play some music and for everyone who listened and danced with me. For this set, I chose to swap slots to play a little slower than most of my recent sets. It was great getting to explore more in the 150s this time, before upping the BPM to set the stage for the rest of the night's high-BPM madness.

JOHNNY BLUE Presents The Berry Tales Ep. 23 | 04/06/2024

Microcosmos Records presents NETSU with this live act recording that contains exclusively unreleased unfinished tracks to be released in 2024 and 2025 and as such represent the direction Netsu will be taking with his next EP and album. Expect a more funky and swingy vibe in addition to the usual deep atmospheres and relentless grooves. Netsu is a producer and live act artist dabbling in music inspired by elements of techno, house, trance, dub and ambient. He has been performing his music live since 2017 and in that time released two EPs, two CD albums and played over 70 shows. His improvised performances based on samples, loops and synthesizers are journeys through styles and emotions, always filled to the brim with psychedelia, mystery and dreams while driven relentlessly by deep, groovy basslines.

TSUNIMAN's spellbinding trance, spacey techno, and progressive psy delights are bound by layers of the quirky and ethereal. A moodier soundtrack for when the lights go low, Tsuniman's sound alchemy blends dark hypnotic elements with bright vibrations, creating otherworldly soundscapes that captivate the senses. For the past three years, they have been a resident at Klub Verboten, an alternative play party hosted in London and Berlin. After an unforgettable b2b set at Field Maneuvers festival in the Summer of 2023, they started running their own party with Miro SundayMusiq - Saturday Club. At East London’s Netil Radio, TSUNIMAN learnt to hone their craft, inviting up-and-coming DJs to guest on their monthly show, Плазма (PLASMA). About this set, Tsuniman says: " I was going to do a more deep techno mix for Boshke Beats but then I couldn't help myself playing some oldies! Especially as some of these 90s tracks are no longer getting played, so I wanted to bring them back to new audiences' ears."

More interested in the richness of the records he can find than the specific genre to which they belong, feel free to broaden your mind and senses to savor this one. From the age of five, music has been Sami's guiding light. Introduced to diverse genres via guitar strings, he developed a versatile musical identity that defies categorization. Guided by a mentor merging guitar and electronic production, Sami explored electronic beats from age thirteen, diving into house, minimal and techno. Today, navigating '90s vinyl, Sami crafts immersive experiences in progressive house, trance, and techno, uniting dancers through extended sets.

Paranormal Records presents 'FREEDOM' compiled by ELVAN through this mini mix of the VA. Mehdi aka Elvan discovered trance music in 2005/2006 with the rise of underground parties in Iran. By 2009, he was deeply into psychedelic music and started DJing, gaining experience in Goa. Since 2011, Elvan has performed at numerous events. In 2014, he pursued a professional career and enhanced his skills at S.A.E., leading to his foray into music production. By 2018, he achieved high standards in production and began working with various record labels. In 2020, he co-founded Paranormal Records with Space Wizard, releasing 19 albums from 2020 to 2023. Elvan released his first EP on Paranormal Records in 2023 and has singles on labels like Sama Recs and Dark Web Recs. He also has side projects: Adoor (night full-on) and Analog Lab (high BPM music). Elvan continues to make a significant impact on the electronic music scene.

NICEBRG | Lost Minute Series EP. 64 | 06/06/2024

Sofa Beats presents THE BITZPAN, a downtempo / electronica music project from Athens, Greece, by artists Panos Nikolaou and Yannis Bitzanis. They use a mixed technique of digital - analog equipment to create their own personal sound of various soundscapes, atmospheres and downtempo musical designs. Overlapping downtempo gender offers the audience a wide musical odyssey, from chilled to ecstatic grooves. It's a deeper plunge into the raw analog sound synthesis, an exploration of instruments and technics dialoguing harmonically with each other, an understanding of the physics of sound and a try to blend it. The Bitzpan duo combines several times classic psychedelic and techno elements with mid tempo grooves, analog drums, rhythmic basses, trippy modular melodies and organic instrument layers. The journey into electronic music production began back in 2002 and never stopped ever since. This set contains tracks from The Bitzpan's upcoming release as well.

They have succeeded in creating a collective where He sets the rhythm of electronic music, and She complements it with the ethnic sounds of drums and bongos. They are not afraid to experiment on stage.  Playing with sound and being open to its various forms is what allows them to create arrangements that enable you to experience and feel the music more deeply. Hypnotic sets and rhythmic, oriental sounds define their work. Together, they complement each other perfectly. This hybrid mix was recorded in their home studio.

With his second EP, ‘A Thousand Secrets’, Apanemic creates a mosaic of various sounds, reviving the music aesthetics in 60s-70s culture of Greece. Nostalgia clashes with fresh musical paths, elements that entwine together progressively as the EP unfolds, imitating the changing feelings of two lovers. Each track is part of a story. Each title matches the appropriate lyric from the original song sampled. Four tracks, a thousand secrets. A vicious circle as a foundation of a relationship.

The project truly resembles a crate digging exercise, since it focuses on records that have spent decades being out of the radar. To achieve this, Apanemic has used samples exclusively derived from the original vinyl copies, 33 and 45 rpm., from 50s to late 70s. Αbout 48 different vinyl records were utilized for the whole project.

Sofa Beats series continues with an exclusive mxi by Noosfære.

‘Noosfære’ refers to the sphere of human thought and aims to create musical journeys that allow for – and drive – the exploration of the inner worlds of thoughts, feelings and other mind- bending abstractions of the human mind. The musical style is dreamy and atmospheric downtempo/electronica with a touch of other worldliness and served on a bed of glitchy beats.
The music is best experienced through headphones and with closed eyes, thus cutting off the outside world and thereby allowing the psychedelic sound infusions directly access to the brain. The listener is then taken on a journey, but free to explore the vast expanse of intangible space between the frequencies and synapses. What happens in that space, in that darkness, is an immersive experience limited only by your own imagination.
Behind ‘Noosfære’ is the Danish musician and producer Jesper Skovgaard. He holds a Masters Degree in the field of Sound and Music Computing and composes, records and produces everything himself.

In this month’s Sofa Beat Records show you can hear a mix by HERRHAUSEN & TREINDL!

Laid-back euphoria and slow-motion ecstasy: The music of Herrhausen & Treindl comes with rather low BPM count, but with an extremely high catchiness and danceability. It was 2012 when the two of them met in a recording studio, back then still in search of the perfect sound for others. They quickly realized that at the end of their working days there was still a whole lot of creative energy left. Their first mutual sessions turned out to be extremely productive, their musical backgrounds turned out to be a great source of inspiration. Treindl used to play the drums, exploring rhythmic structures from Funk to Hip Hop and beyond, while Herrhausen was touring with a Ska combo as a young chap. Together they combine a slow movement approach with complex arrangements, creating a style of electronic music that takes festival and party dancefloors by storm with early morning sound as glorious as it gets!
