Founder and executive producer of Sonica Festival, DJ Gino is joining us In Focus to shed some light on the goings-on in his version of the psyuniverse and showcase some of the sounds he is so well known for.

DJ GINO is founder and executive producer of SONICA FESTIVAL. Now a veteran about psychedelic music gatherings, he begins his active participation since 1990, immediately keen on acid-techno frequencies of that age. In 1993 he buys his first desks technics-1200, after having been collecting a large vinyl archive and, getting in touch with local insiders, Gino starts to collaborate for the production of several parties in Italy (Naples, his native land) with famous artists from London and Detroit underground scene. After a pause, gone-by 1996 to 1999, when he's been traveling throughout South American as well as Oriental cultures, Gino comes back to psychedelic scene attending most of the best events around the globe. His dancefloor-driving experience melted with his professional know-how in event management led him to project and create SONICA DANCE FESTIVAL in 2005, that celebrated its 10th anniversary last summer 2015 with a great success.

Gino plays his natty dj-set in many international festivals and clubs.
His style is an harmonic fusion of psychedelic and cyber frequencies, and his musical research aims to constantly upgrade the worldwide dance music trends. He is usually able to present two different dj-set, for open-air or indoor stages, dynamically shifting clever selections of contemporary acid sounds with pumping and rocking beats.

Gino released Chacruna on December 2008, his first VA Comp. on Echoes Records and on May 2010 he founded Sonica Recordings releasing Sonica VA Comp Vol II on June 2010; Healing Lights VA Compiled by Djane Gaby on May 2012 and Sonica VA Comp Vol III released on Oct 2012.
Just two months ago Gino released another great compilation for celebrating the Sonica’s 10th anniversary, considered the best one of the whole year 2015 by the worldwide trance community.

New series by Uroboros Records kicks off by label founder and runner ONIONBRAIN.

Onionbrain is the project founded in 2007 by Bruno Azalim, from Brazil. His music can be described as deep progressive trance with an obscure psychedelic touch. Influenced by the darker side of psychedelic trance and metal, rock n roll and industrial bands, he blends all his musical influences with the science fiction genre and morphs it into the Onionbrain music. After some years of hard work he acumulates releases on many labels like Cosmic Conspiracy, Mind Tweakers, Glitchy Tonic, Occulta and Uroboros Records (this last one founded by him and Zartrox in the beginning of 2010) and presentations in a lot of parties and festivals in Brazil, Central America and Europe

Thibaut L, was born in 1983 and grew up in Paris, France. His musical career began at the age of 5 when he decided learn piano at a Parisian music school.
At a young age Thibaut had an open ear to several genres of music such as metal, indus, ebm, rock, jungle etc… While traveling to koh phangan Thailand, at a beach party he made his first encounter with psychedelic trance. This was the sound that Thibaut had been searching for all his human existence. At this moment in time “Plasmotek” project was born, and was anxious to get back to France to build the studio to begin composing his own creations and sounds.

Thibaut began djing in Paris’s local underground trance parties. In 2005 he released his first track on Mandala Rec and shortly after Plasmotek live was ready to rock international dance floors. Today, with his refreshing album (lifted) released on mandala records and numerous tracks on multiple labels (24/7 records, timecode records…) plasmotek has established himself an upcoming, unique and fresh live act from France. His sound is described as deep mechanical full-on trance, balanced between techno and trance.

Michell met Psytrance very young, at age 13, around the year 2003. Soon saw that it was a movement beyond the music, beyond the dance, but a way of life! So get involved even with all that. Knowing the world of festivals, was sure that was what he wanted to do in his life, not only as a spectator, more actively participating in that universe!In 2008, with the certainty that he was in the right place, began to get more technical, search songs, artists, genres, thus making a “start” as djset, not stopping more.
Michell Joined Indian based psytrance label Profound Records in 2015 as a label DJ from Brazil. Michz as a DJ has been appearing at festivals like Soulvision Festival (SP), Samsara Festival(MG), the World Festival of Oz (Sp), Terra em Transe Festival (BA), Festival of Alternative Kranti – FAK (GO), Klim Trance Festival (Chapada Diamantina – Bahia) Merkaba Festival (Mg) and thus sharing the stage with big names that have always been influences in his sets!In his presentations, Michz is always behind what’s best in national productions, mixing with large and recognized names in the world scene, creating a unique atmosphere on the dance floor.

Fabian Schnell alias Myrtox originally comes out of the metal- and hardcorescene and was gaining experience live on stage while playing guitar in a band. It was no less than 8 years ago, that he discovered his passion for electronic music, and later on in the year of 2008, finally to mix psytrance as a DJ.
As after some time it became very clear that it wasnt simply enough for him to play tracks of other artists over and over again, 2012 Myrtox began producing his own tracks. Dark Prog / Psygressive with influences of oldschool and great arists of the world wide dark prog scene.

Dick Trevor has been writing Trance music since the early days of Goa.He started making music while at college doing sound engineering back in 93. He and Matt Coldrick teamed up and had a go at making a trance track which TIP bought straight away ,from then on they became the Green Nuns of the Revolution. They made tracks for most of the english labels then and various compilations, releasing only one album on Flying Rhino. After a couple of years making music together they teamed up with keyboard player Neil Cowley who was then playing with the Brand New Heavies and he started to put more funk into the music. They did many gigs around the world with live guitar and keyboards and sometimes an extra percussionist, going for the rock n roll performance. They even did a video for MTV. The nuns went their separate ways in 98 and Dick started to produce music with many different artists although they have been wrenched out of retirement a few times recently to play some retro sets.

Within the Flying Rhino stable the Bumbling Loons was formed with James Monro and Slinky Nuns/Seeka with George Barker. On Twisted records Dick did collaborations with Simon Posford as Infernal Machine and Tristan as Trickster. He also did a Western Rebel Alliance remix with Jules Evans ( producer/fisherman) for the Shpongle Remix album and also formed the band Hierophant for a couple of tracks on the Backroom Beats albums.

On Phantasm there were collaborations with Chris Boing as the Bisto Boys and John Ford as Mindfield/Bisto Boys and also with John's son Junya (Eskimo) as Jumanji Dick also teamed up with Jon Om who used to run Aquatec Records and formed Green Oms, they released their album, “Coming Through In Waves” on Dragonfly. He has also joined forces with Jules Hamer from Aphid Moon and came up with AMD and created their album “Big Fish” which was released on Nano Records.

Away from the trance scene Dick teamed up with Danny Howells and started Science Dept having successful releases on John Digweeds label Bedrock (Repercussion,Persuasion) and then on Renaissance Records (Breathe) which got into the UK top 60.They have also released Kinkyfunk on Deep Dish's label Yoshitoshi in the US which was a big hit on the progressive scene. Then after that they followed it up with Dusk til Dawn which was a big hit in Ibiza in 2004 and even made it into the UK top 40 on C2 records. Since then they made many remixes including a remix for Destiny's Child for their single, Soldier, and also remixed Madonna’s “Get Together”.Through Danny's connections Dick got together with native Australian Andy Morris (Narcotic Thrust) and released a couple of singles, includindg a remix for Offir Nassim on Star69 Records from the US.

Back on the trance scene Dick has released tracks on his own as Dickster on Nano,Twisted, Phantasm and TIP.He has also made many collaborations with the likes of Tristan, Zen Mechanics, Burn In Noise, James Monro,The First Stone,Tron,Cosmosis,Pogo, Lucas,Hopi,Annarchy,Logica,George Barker and many others with all styles of music appealing to him.James and Dick have just started a new collaboration called Lucid which will be releaesd on 4Digitalaudio which is mixtutre of groovy techno minimal (I get lost on the catagories nowadays!).Also a new project with Gustavo from Burn In Noise called Circuit Breakers which will be releasing with Nano Records

Over the last few years he has been playing at some of the best parties/festivals all around the globe (in Australia, Japan, South America, South Africa ,Russia and around Europe) playing both DJ sets and live sets under various guises.More recently he has been working with Shpongle as part of the live band.

Dick Trevor

Dick Trevor aka Dickster is responsible for the Green Nuns of the Revolution, Circuit Breakers,Infernal Machine, Bumbling Loons, AMD & countless other projects in his 19 years in the trance world.
He developed his incredibly fat production by being at the cutting edge from the early nineties with his first trance hits with the legendary Green Nuns of the Revolution who dominated the fullon scene in the mid nineties. He has since been constantly productive with projects like the Green Oms album at the turn of the millennium and more recently Jumanji (with Eskimo) and his own solo project Dickster as well as countless classic collaborations with the likes of Simon Posford, Tristan, Lucas and house remixes with the likes of Danny Howells.
