AUX25 is Interchill label co-founder Andrew Ross Collins. Since the beginning Andrew has been the ears behind the Interchill label. The AUX25 project started in spring 2020, and 2 EP's are due for release in 2021 with remixes by long time Interchill favorite artists Adham Shaikh and Eat Static. This episode, however, is dedicated to some of the beloved musicians who passed on in 2021... Suns of Arqa mainman Wadada, Lee Scratch Perry, and Jon Hassell. They all feature in this mix in one way or another…

This Observation is fresh ambient DJ set by ZSÁGER BALÁZS. Zságer Balázs, keyboardist-producer, has been an iconic figure of the Hungarian electronic music scene since 00'. He runs the electronica label, Free Sequence. As the leader of Žagar, he has produced four studio albums and many soundtracks. His tunes have appeared in TV shows like CSI and many documentaries. His tracks have been remixed by producers like Deadbeat, Marcus Henriksson / Minilogue and Vakula, among others. Zságer’s feature is the versatility and distinctiveness and the constantly evolving artistic approach. After 20 years as a member of Žagar, he launched an audiovisual duo with Kati Katona and he started his own solo project focusing ambient and atmospheric synth music. Recently he is working on his very first solo album – this exclusive selection for radiOzora represents his serious attitude towards ambient music.

In this collaboration, Radboud Mens and I explore the tension between stasis and movement. Operating within the realm of drone and electroacoustic music, we construct a sonic landscape where sustained tones and microscopic events constantly shape and reshape each other. What initially appears static reveals itself to be rich with detail: tiny acoustic shifts breathe life into apparent stillness, inviting focused and attentive listening.

The album emerged from a process where sound research, improvisation, and sound design merge. Self-built instruments, the search for timbre and texture, and recordings of the learning process itself form the foundation of these compositions. Rather than following a traditional musical structure, the result is a sonic field in which the minimal continually transforms depending on the listener’s perspective. This is a layered and handcrafted album that doesn’t narrate, but questions. Marking A Boundary With The Turning Point is not a boundary. It’s an invitation to listen differently.

My take on this was to use glitches or extraneous sounds that crop up in field recordings. These are usually edited out but here I extracted some from a couple of recordings and joined them to form a continuous sequence. After extending this sequence and adding a touch of reverb and delay I combined it with an evolving electronic drone.
