Recorded at Nimboi-Binderay National Park. 20 minutes of the more interesting sounds out of an 10 hour overnight recording. Yellow-bellied Glider calls, Southern Boobook, Australian Owlet Nightjar, Sugar Glider, and something skulking around the sclerophyll deep litter close to the the microphone rig busily chewing around 11:30-12:00min (I'm guessing an Eastern Quoll or Bandicoot. The Greater Glider pictured is actually silent and does not vocalise.

There's Something Out There : Creepy Night Sounds

Dawn on a farm at the edge of the Werrikimbe wilderness brings a quartet of Australian Magpies to welcome the rising sun with a warbling song and conversation. They perch atop a farm gate, all in a row, to sing.

Mooraback Morning Magpie Meeting

This dawn chorus was recorded at Mt Tamborine NP on the edge of the rainforest by a small creek. Winter. Several Eastern Whip-birds lead the chorus soon after first light. Each male has a differing lead note frequency. Occasionally a female duets back with twin reply notes. The Alberts Lyrebird calling in the background is giving the Mount Tamborine population theme song call, with two high notes introducing the next powerful half dozen song syllables.

Lightning Ridge Dawn Chorus

This Superb Lyrebird is singing at dawn in the year after the great fires in its habitat in Wollemi National park wilderness. These birds survived by sheltering in the deep rainforest gorges below the blaze above on the sandstone plateaus of dry eucalypt forest.
