Originally, I started out in Music because we were poor and I hoped it would be a means to escape from the environment in which we were living and were going to live for a long time.(let me tell you it's no fun wearing short trousers until you're 14 years old)-and to carry a violin case home for 2miles or so through the council estate where I lived meant,..you learned to  fight ,..run ..fast or learn to take a kicking or two!After that see your mother go through various relationships, beatings and divorces to try and secure a better life for her kids,...My father was a Musician ,a great lead trumpet player in some big bands, a drinker, a womaniser and unreliable I'm told,..he left when I was four,..then I left when I was 17,..I ran and joined this Circus of life,....
 I asked to be taught to play Piano by my uncles and grandfather  the reply ,..learn it yourself,..
so I did I learnt the drums on my own and never looked back,....this is my past 40 years....welcome
