crispy edition of the Toxic Funk 7-inch donut series. This
time inviting the Funkin’ Basstards producer duo to do their magic and bring some Toxic Funk vibes with 2 authentic funk joints regooved to perfection by 2 of scene’s best beat smiths.
The Toxic Funk series is tabbing into a craze of recycled old funk and soul and do edits that stays true to the vibes of the 60s and 70s but still has enough punch to put into a modern day funky DJ set. Funkin Basstards has followed that recipe to perfection on both jams on this single.

Starting off with the contagious A-Side track called Fire – which showcases a classic soul party vibe track mixed with some Funkin Basstards breakbeats to keep it toxic. Followed up with the equally party rockin’ soul joint Reasons which takes us back to the 60s soul era with some sweet soul sister vocals and a good doze of Funkin Basstards beats and breaks to go with it.

Their newest single is a VIP revisiting of a CATJAM classic 'Catmandu Riddim'.  Featuring the vocal talents of Offbeat, the pair give the VIP a classic UK garage vibe with the unique CATJAM twist.  A phat groovy bassline fused with vintage jazzy hooks, delicate 2 step beats and gnarly twisted amen cuts give this track a fresh new sound for 2021.

90s High School student Duke listened to tape cassettes of Speed Garage on his walkman.  His eyes were nearly closed, his limbs struggling to remain still, his lips beatboxing along quietly to the bassline. 

During a class experiment taking apart electronics, he brought his grandfather's old AM radio.  Unbeknownst to the Duke, this radio altho looking nothing more than an antique, had been forever transformed from the fallout of radiation from an atom bomb detonation in 1945.  As Duke plugged in the radio, a freak accident occurred.  Suddenly there was a spine shattering crash and a blinding light. 1.21 jigowatts of electricity was unleashed causing a rift in the space-time continuum, and the young Duke was transported to a parallel world, one where the past, the present and the future were all merged.  

Back from his journey, the Duke is ready to unleash his Future Swing Time Machine on our world.  On this single 'Simon Says', LA-based Duke Skellington teams up with London MC Hypeman Sage for this no-nonsense lesson in Bass House.  Hypeman Sage wastes no time showing us how filthy he can get spitting lyrics over the Dukes brass-driven bass house.

The beat-juggling dream team that called themselves Suckaside is back on BBP with another slices of timeless head-nodding goodness &ndash; so funky we had to call upon the Kurnel MC to lay on some dope bars and BadboE for remixing duties.
Suckaside aka Sucka Timmy and Dj B-Side has polished off an old classic soul diamond and paired it with and classic funky beat and some smooth basslines. All topped off with the Kurnel MC doing his thing while spitting hot fire on beat.
What else was there to do for the remix but to invite BBP head honcho BadboE to squeeze just a little more funk out of the equation. To do that BadboE had turned the tempo slightly up and adding a classic nu funk arrangement around the soulful elements while giving the Kurnel MC plenty of room to flow.
Both the original and BadboE remix comes in instrumental versions as well of an accapella of Kurnel MC rhymes for the DJ to mix it up&hellip;
