Good morning/afternoon/evening.

How's your week been? hope the light has shone for you and yours. 
I'm pleased to bring you sessionAlpha25 part six. Two hours in the mix with some older tracks this week.
Great for the commute, gym, walking or just sitting. For some of you, perhaps dancing too? 
My mixes always start out with a nice intro track (normally something ambient) but this week I found myself in the folktronica stable with the fantastic Lanu as the opener. 
I take a lovely meander through deep house and techno with some cool dubby oddities chucked in and some broken beat for extra flavour. Check the track list below for any info.

Sun came out. Beers flowed. Off the cuff set of jams. This is just something fun, from deep ambient to acid techno. This mix kind of works. I had fun anyway. Check it. It's a mix of two halves. Amazingly I haven't tried to mix all the tracks! No judging.

Boogie While You Work by Rahaan...

Steve Cobby is a producer, musician and DJ from Hull, UK. His first commercial outing was with Ashley & Jackson, a short-lived project signed to Big Life records in 1988. When they were dropped, he co-founded Pork Recordings and Fila Brazillia in 1990. Fila released 12 critically acclaimed LPs as well as produced over 70 remixes for artists as diverse as Radiohead, Busta Rhymes, Black Uhuru, Simple Minds, James, A Certain Ratio and Moloko. 

His first paid DJ set was in 1985. He has since gone on to play all four corners of the globe from Sydney to San Francisco, New York to Tokyo as well as performing live in Europe, Japan, and the US with Fila. With David Brennand he established the iconic label Pork Recordings in 1990. An imprint that went on to become internationally acclaimed for its quality and integrity. The acclaimed compilation series "Another Late Night" was kickstarted by Fila’s mix in 2000. They also co-produced "Afghan Whigs", Greg Dulli's debut Twilight Singers LP and co-wrote with seminal US composer Harold Budd and UK legend Bill Nelson for the Three White Roses collaboration. 

Steve's other projects include Heights Of Abraham, JSTARS, The Cutler, Hey Rube, Chieftain and Citrus with Richard H Kirk. He now releases all solo work on his own Déclassé imprint. His solo LP "Saudade" garnered considerable critical acclaim, selling its limited-edition-run in spring 2014. The follow-up "Everliving" was named in Piccadilly Records' top 100 LPs of the year in 2015. The third solo outing "Hemidemisemiquaver" received similar glowing praise.

Hailing from Chicago, the city which gave birth to House music Rahaan has been spinning house and disco since the 80’s when he started playing at house parties across the city.

In the 3 decades since Rahaan has become a Chicago legend, a DJ who is widely recognised for his exceptional skills behind the decks and his exquisite taste in music. Lately he has also been earning plaudits for his production skills with some truly outstanding releases.

Recently he has released on some key labels including Lumberjacks In Hell, Street Edits and Dopeness Galore. His tracks are steeped in dancefloor groove, music made by a DJ with the sole intention of moving that floor.

Rahaan is a producer who has clearly learned his trade via many hours behind the decks studying the flow of the dance-floor and the tracks which have the power to excite and enthral.

Starting off playing from cassette tapes with a group of friends under the moniker ‘Chuck Brothers’ he started to build an extensive house and disco collection in the 90’s after a move to Wisconsin. A return to Chicago in 1996 saw him start to build his stellar reputation as one of Chicago’s stand out house and disco DJs with residencies at ‘The Spot’ and one of Chicago’s best clubs ‘Buddha Lounge’. A reputation he would cement with gigs all over the globe in the proceeding years.
