After ‘Take 1’ comes ‘Take 2’, it sometimes really is that simple… Together with the ‘Pre-Take’ that came out before the summer this third volume in WPH’s ‘Our Beat Is Still New’ project completes the 12 tracks that form the album. More members of the core WPH family are on board here, but we also welcome some newcomers to the label.

The A-side opens up with what we have always considered to be the Dresden counterpart to WPH, the Uncanny Valley family of Jacob Korn, Credit 00 and Sneaker. With ‘Drum Abuse’ the provide the roughest track of the compilation, and one that will have techno DJ’s play new beat again… The second track on the A-side comes courtesy of Jacques Renault & Mark Verbos aka Goodnight Moon, giving a serious New York rendition of new beat.

On the B-side we have Social Disco Club and Outlander, both no strangers to WPH, and both very much on point again here. Social Disco Club marries his trademark deep house sound with a new beat feel, and Outlander was pretty much there when new beat started, so he provides us with vintage machine slowness straight from new beat heaven.

Is this the end of it? Well, you either know WPH or you don’t…

How's your week been? hope the light has shone for you and yours. 
I'm pleased to bring you sessionAlpha25 part six. Two hours in the mix with some older tracks this week.
Great for the commute, gym, walking or just sitting. For some of you, perhaps dancing too? 
My mixes always start out with a nice intro track (normally something ambient) but this week I found myself in the folktronica stable with the fantastic Lanu as the opener. 
I take a lovely meander through deep house and techno with some cool dubby oddities chucked in and some broken beat for extra flavour. Check the track list below for any info.

Hailing from Chicago, the city which gave birth to House music Rahaan has been spinning house and disco since the 80’s when he started playing at house parties across the city.

In the 3 decades since Rahaan has become a Chicago legend, a DJ who is widely recognised for his exceptional skills behind the decks and his exquisite taste in music. Lately he has also been earning plaudits for his production skills with some truly outstanding releases.

Recently he has released on some key labels including Lumberjacks In Hell, Street Edits and Dopeness Galore. His tracks are steeped in dancefloor groove, music made by a DJ with the sole intention of moving that floor.

Rahaan is a producer who has clearly learned his trade via many hours behind the decks studying the flow of the dance-floor and the tracks which have the power to excite and enthral.

Starting off playing from cassette tapes with a group of friends under the moniker ‘Chuck Brothers’ he started to build an extensive house and disco collection in the 90’s after a move to Wisconsin. A return to Chicago in 1996 saw him start to build his stellar reputation as one of Chicago’s stand out house and disco DJs with residencies at ‘The Spot’ and one of Chicago’s best clubs ‘Buddha Lounge’. A reputation he would cement with gigs all over the globe in the proceeding years.
