1) Slow Burn by Graham Domain

A true story of my dads escape from France when the Nazi's invaded in WWII. Two weeks after the Dunkirk evacuation of British troops, his Airforce squad were still there trying to get out. During the short ceasefire that the Germans gave France to surrender, the German troops and Tanks were ordered to get to their positions and not engage in conflict.  Led by a dispatch rider with German Tanks crossing in front of them they managed to flee south and get the last boat back to Jersey and the last boat out of Jersey when the Germans invaded the Island a day later.
