Début des années 70. Le choc pétrolier n'a pas encore eu lieu. Bientot la fin de la période de prospérité appelé les 30 glorieuses. Nasser est mort en laissant un pays exsangue. Pourtant Alger continue à prolonger la torpeur révolutionnaire. Alger est la Mecque révolutionnaire mondiale. Les "idiots utiles" occidenta...ux ne jurent que par le Ché, Cuba et Alger. L'arabisme bat son plein dans les médias algériens. Pendant que les médias officiels diffusent Oum Khaltoum, chanteuse de cours du régime de Nasser, et est présentée comme une diva (malgré des textes digne de Dalida) la rue fredonne la chanson "Chenoud" de Nourredine Chenoud. C'est le début de la déferlante. D'autres suivront. Idir, les Abranis Djamal Allam. Pas de doute quelque chose est en train de changer...

يا الرايح هي أغنية جزائرية ذات شهرة عالمية كتب كلماتها وغناها المطرب الشعبي الجزائري دحمان الحراشي.الأغنية تحكي عن معاناة المهاجر في ديار الغربة من التهميش والإقصاء والشوق للعودة للوطن، وفيها نصيحة للمهاجر بدعوته للعودة إلى الوطن الأم باعتبار الهجرة إلى ديار الغربة لا تعتبر حلا صحيا ولا طبيعيا للمهاجرين العرب. اشتهرت في العالم بأسره بعد ما أعاد غنائها المغني  الجزائري المغترب رشيد طه عام 1993، واللبناني علاء زلزلي والكثير من المغنين الأمريكيين والبرازليين وحققت مبيعات عالية في البرازيل.

Il y a 20 ans Matoub Lounes mourrait assassiné en Kabylie. Du statut d'icône militante adorée de la jeunesse Berbère, il passa à celui de martyre, reconnu dans le monde entier pour les risques qu'il a osé prendre.
Sa mort n'a pourtant pas fait oublier l’œuvre artistique, la richesse et la diversité des compositions et des sonorités.
Voici donc, en guise d'émission du mois Juillet, un mix retraçant sa "période vinyle" et ne représentant qu'une part infime de son œuvre, parue par la suite essentiellement sur cassette ou CD.

Matoub Lounes was killed 20 years ago in Kabylie. This murder turned the beloved berber militant icon into a martyr, renowned all around the world for his bravery.
Gone but not forgotten, the diversity of sounds in his music and the density of his compositions still live on.
For July here is a mix covering his vinyl days that shows only a tiny fraction of his art, most of his later work was published on CD or tape. 
So enjoy this mix, enjoy your vacations and thank you Matoub.

بأفراحها وأحلامها

On croyait le grand raï mort avec le ­déclin de Khaled, Cheb Mami et con­sorts, dans le meilleur des cas réduit à quelques performances vocodées dans les boîtes à chicha des périphéries urbaines. Et voilà qu’il renaît par la voix rauque et enfumée d’un quadragénaire parisien originaire de Sidi Bel Abbès, en Algérie. Trois ans après El Mordjane, disque déjà prometteur, Sofiane Saidi est de retour, accompagné cette fois par Mazalda, un groupe de musiciens lyonnais avec lequel il a déjà électrisé les scènes françaises. En studio, guitares rock et synthés analogiques aux tournures mélismatiques invitent à tournoyer sous les étoiles (el ndjoum en arabe), sur un groove vintage mouillé d’une réverbe intimiste et chaleureuse, qui rappelle moins le raï des années 1990 que celui de la décennie précédente. Car, au-delà de la fête, plus cosmique que stroboscopique, Sofiane Saidi renoue surtout avec l’âpreté des origines, mélangeant batterie et derboukas, flûte électronique et flûte de roseau traditionnelle. Adaptées de vieux morceaux raï, ses chansons suintent le blues, celui que les bergers noyaient autrefois dans la bouteille sous les oliviers. La reprise du Saïda de Cheikha Rimitti qui clôture le disque — un chant de l’exil lancinant — donne des frissons.
