From beneath the moody and rain burdened Manchester sky, hails the latest musical offering from Stefan Melbourne, his new outfit going by the name of "We Were Strangers"  Having performed and recorded in the past as a solo act, Melbourne's recent endeavour is a more fluid affair with various musicians accompanying the salient troubadour as he takes up the lead.   

Not too long ago the band released a small EP going by the name of "Before" which was welcomed and applauded by bloggers and listeners alike, paving the way for their album " Beneath a Broken Sky "  which is due out in the coming months, a moving and fluent anthology of heartbreak and nostalgia, with a gritty sense of sorrow and a prevalent and fierce hope running throughout. Steeped in the rich heritage of the North and somehow possessed by the insistent, rain soaked manchester streets WWS won't disappoint.

Belfast musician, Rachael Boyd uses piano, strings and electronics to create contemporary and richly textured folk-leaning compositions. Her music has been described as tragic yet powerful and mesmerising with hushed vocals, bittersweet piano and electronic flourishes. 
Her latest EP, 'Too High' was released by US label Abandon Building and featured remixes from artists such as Kelpe and Sun Glitters. Rachael has also remixed other artists including The Polyphonic Spree, Little People and Pick A Piper (drummer from Caribou). 

Her influences range from Sufjan Stevens, The Flashbulb, Baths and Broken Social Scene to romantic classical composers such as Debussy and Chopin.

Donal is currently on air twice a week with his RTE show Radio Activity, on Friday mornings from 10am-1pm with 2XM and on Sunday nights from 10pm - midnight on 2FM. 

The Parish recording project, assembled by Donal Dineen late in 2010, began life three years previously with a show he put together for Body & Soul at the Electric Picnic in 2007 with Liam O Maonlai & Ronan O Snodaigh. That spectacular night ended with a promise to try & get together in the studio whenever time allowed. So finally, in January 2011, Donal spent a fortnight in the Exchequer Studios in Dublin with Liam & Niwel Tsumbu. The recording began by covering some of the ground they touched on in 2007's & subsequent Electric Picnic appearances but soon progressed to the composition of original material.  New tracks will be released here as they come out, and you can expect a new release in Autumn 2013.

Liam is the songwriter in chief with vocal duties shared with Aminah Dastan from the group Madu. Subsequent sessions took place with Ronán on persussion, Andre Antunes on drums and Peter Erdei on bass, all of whom have joined Donal onstage for live Parish shows over the last couple of years.

Funeral Suits are a four-piece from Ireland consisting of Brian James, Mik McKeogh, Greg McCarthy and Dar Grant. The music they make is expansive without being overblown, heavy without being menacing and all the more thrilling for its restraint. 

A shared love of epic, distorted guitars, blistering harmonius pop, art rock and
electronica led to the band spending the best part of two years holed up in a disused office space in deepest North County Dublin, writing, rehearsing and at times venturing out to play as special guests for Franz Ferdinand, Passion Pit, The Maccabees, Local Natives amongst others.

Funeral Suits have recorded their debut album 'Lily of the Valley' with acclaimed producer Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths) which is due for release on Model Citizen records on June 1st in Ireland and June 4th everywhere else.
