Rainbow Laces, born John Le Drew, is a maverick artist renowned for his compelling fusion of orchestral and choral elements with cutting-edge beats and synthesisers. Hailing from the artistic haven of Hackney Wick, his sound is an immersive tapestry reflecting his surroundings and the indelible influences from the trip-hop era of the '90s and early '00s.

John's passion for music blossomed in his childhood, as he creatively experimented with his father's reel-to-reel and cassette tapes. The dawn of digital music production tools later transformed his artistic landscape, providing a wider canvas for his inventive spirit. Propelled by his passion for dance music, he began his DJing journey in 2019. Despite the challenges brought by the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, he pivoted, co-organising online charity music festivals and successfully raising over $40,000.

Rainbow Laces isn't just a stage name—it's a symbol of John's triumphant journey towards self-acceptance and authenticity. Living with dyspraxia and dysgraphia, John faced struggles as mundane yet symbolic as tying shoelaces. However, a serendipitous encounter with a set of vibrant laces inspired him to openly embrace his challenges, weaving this narrative into the very fabric of his musical identity.

A proud gay man, Rainbow Laces was born on June 25th, the same date as the debut of the Pride Flag—an alignment that has become deeply symbolic for him. His music is a powerful expression of this personal alignment and his commitment to diversity. His recent releases serve as compelling embodiments of this synthesis, marrying grand orchestral arrangements with contemporary beats and synthesisers.
