It's fascinating that the halF unusuaL track released yesterday for Naviar Records - https://soundcloud.com/half-unusual/half-ahead-naviarhaiku552 - was not considered 'music' enough to warrant it being recommended to people who might want to hear it ... This track, however, the SoundCloud algorithm deems appropriate ... 

I would argue this one is LESS 'music', but there you go, lol! 😂 All part of this wonderful algorithmic world we inhabit 😜 Let me know what you think!

Recorded & mixed on 25 Apr 2020 & 01 Aug 2024 by Jim Lemanowicz at Blissville Electro-Magnetic Laboratories of Massapequa. 

Process notes - 
I selected 14 seconds (in five sections) of a 10 min recording I made on 25 Apr 2020. I loaded these into my hardware tracker and recorded for about 36 minutes. I compiled a handful of pieces of this performance down to about 3:20 . 

Tools used - 
Yuri Turov's Xynthesizr, Phosphor by Audio Damage, Audiobus 3, some reverb, Ableton Live Suite, Polyend Tracker, Ableton Live native devices, Zoom H6.

The Old Woman Who Lived In A Fist (disquiet0657)

The sound sculpture in the image is a sort of nail violin. The nails are bowed with a violin bow and make breathy, plaintive sounding notes. I also used the violin bow on two cymbals and a broken saw blade screwed to a block of wood. The saw blade is responsible for the bending tones later on in the track.

Recorded with contact mics and no effects.

I collect litter and make small scale sonic sculptures and rudimentary instruments. When I play them I’m thinking of natural rhythms like the wind in the trees or animal movements.
