While this aesthetic has long been part of our personal listening, we hadn’t had the chance to explore it in a session until now. It was such a nice feeling to play an opening set together in this special venue, surrounded by friends and supported by a sound system that did justice to every subtle detail.”

@transmigration_records is a Berlin-based record label and archive dedicated to reissuing temporarily lost or forgotten psychedelic electronic music.

Founded in 2022 by Irish DJ David Fogarty, the label has since gathered momentum and recognition for breathing new life into niche catalogues – often forgotten ambient and trance records from the ’90s – through careful restoration and presentation to new audiences.

Like many of the best record labels, Transmigration’s output is reflective of what you might hear in one of David’s DJ sets. Drawing from a wide-ranging record collection, he occupies a unique space that blends the deeper ends of house, techno, and trance, in a way that appeals to both large audiences and hardcore music nerds alike.

We caught up with David to talk shop on the story behind Transmigrations, and what it’s like running an independent label in 2025.

highly psychedelic sound experiences. His attention to emotional detail and
rich textures allows him to shape the atmosphere of any dance floor.

Inspired by a fascination for storytelling through aesthetics and bold
approaches to contemporary dance music, Sonhan carefully curates his
music selection and transitions to deliver dynamic and immersive
experiences. By shifting between dimensions and emotions, he
demonstrates that mind-bending art can be a science in its own right.

This philosophy also drives his work as the co-organizer and curator of
the 'Metropolis' event series in Brussels, where each edition
emphasizes high-quality sound and immersive experiences.
