Based in Washington, DC, TonalTheory is a dynamic, self-taught producer/DJ duo that blends hard-hitting, percussive techno with melodic elements drawn from their classical backgrounds. Their immersive sound pushes the boundaries of hard techno, balancing aggression with a softer, more nuanced approach that captivates audiences. Their innovative productions have been released on industry-leading labels such as Expel Your Demons, Divine Intervention, Say What? Records, SINDEX, and Ōtomo. Notable EPs like Keep Me Blushin’ and Destined for Great Things have garnered support from top-tier artists including Dax J, Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin, and Perc, and have been featured in key publications like KEYI Magazine and The Washington Post.

In 2021, TonalTheory founded their label, Undertone, driven by a passion for supporting emerging artists. Since its inception, the label has provided 21 U.S.-based producers with their first release, establishing Undertone as a platform for boundary-pushing techno. Their signature high-energy label nights have become a staple in the DC underground scene, and through collaborations with leading venues and promoters, they have nurtured the local techno community while consistently elevating the talent around them.

TonalTheory’s impact extends far beyond Washington, DC, as they’ve headlined shows across North America, Europe, and Asia, delivering their relentless techno sound to fans worldwide. Their long-standing residencies at iconic venues like Soundcheck, Echostage, Flash DC, and The Owl Room, as well as performances at warehouse events hosted by promoters like 6AM, TechnoFamLA, and Twisted Lines, showcase their unstoppable energy and dedication to pushing the boundaries of techno on a global scale.

Nicola Capobianco, a Swiss born producer and DJ who is better known for his project called LIQUID SOUL.
Falling in love with electronic music from a very young age, he almost immediately took an interest in DJ’ing back in 1993, this is the very year where his journey into the world of music officially begun. It became clear that his new found passion wasn’t just a passing phase and would last as he made the decision to venture deeper into music. This quickly saw him find his way around the studio as this was the next phase of his progression. He started crafting himself a unique sound signature. This hugely assisted his career and has helped sustain his constant heavy flow of bookings all over the world, ranging from clubs to festivals and big raves.
Shortly after 2001 Nicola discovered the psychedelic side of trance music. He felt the urge to again explore new avenues within himself. This reinvention process gave birth to his current and popular project, LIQUID SOUL. He played a vital role and was one of the pioneers in shaping the Psychedelic Progressive Trance landscape to where it has grown today. LIQUID SOUL became a worldwide sensation for his productions and his distinctive sound signature. A sound that can be best described as masterfully capturing emotion through the perfect use of uplifting melodies which manages to intelligently fuse into Psychedelic Trance. These unique qualities have simply set LIQUID SOUL apart from the pack, making him one of the most requested artists in the business today.
The LIQUID SOUL project rapidly gained its own momentum, and was instantly approached with an exclusive record label deal from IBOGA Records, (the most successful Psy- Progressive-Trance label). LIQUID SOUL became the labels biggest selling artist over the past decade. He released his debut album «Synthetic Vibes», that descended onto the world with huge success, followed by three chart topping albums «Love in Stereo», «Cocktails» and «Revolution» which again were masterpieces. This also included countless hypnotic releases featuring several remixes as well as a host of various artist compilations like
«Streetparade 2018» – the official compilation of the world’s biggest party. Other very impressive career highlights include winning the acclaimed
«DJ Awards» in Ibiza for the Psy-Trance category, furthermore he won three Beatport awards: twice for the «Best Track» and once for the prestigious «Best Artist» award. Finally toping things off, he very comfortably still holds the most number 1 releases within the Psy- Trance category on Beatport, which again speaks for itself.
To connect even closer to the psy-trance scene Nicola recently established «Psy-Nation Radio» together with Ace Ventura – a monthly podcast with the freshest psy-trance music, insights and interviews. With tens of thousands monthly listeners «Psy-Nation Radio» is another successful project to shape and impact the psychedelic music scene. With such an impressive track record and dynamic career it makes complete sense why LIQUID SOUL has presently become one of the highest booked and most in demand artists. With over 100 performances annually, ranging from Festivals, Shows and Clubs such as Boom, Ozora, Tomorrowland, EDC, Ministry of Sound, Dreamstate and A State of Trance to mention a few. For Sam Walker and Gavin Royce, the question is the fundamental test of their studio output. Simple as it may sound, for this perfectionist pair it’s anything but. Their innate dance floor intuition, combined with years of experience behind the decks, drives them to create music that isn’t just playable — it’s irresistible.

First introduced by way of New York City's early-aughts dance music scene, Sam Walker and Gavin Royce first teamed up for a remix in 2011. The duo found early success on tastemaker labels like Crosstown Rebels, OFF Recordings, and Moda Black, scoring an Essential New Tune nod from Pete Tong with 2014’s “Sister.”  The indie dance and deep house sounds that informed Walker & Royce’s earliest work soon gave way to something different. Quirky accents and bouncy synths, previously deeper in the mix, leapt to the forefront, backed by a propulsive new energy. The success of their November 2015 “Bright Lights” remix was a clear indication that they were onto something.

In October 2017, Walker & Royce released their debut album Self Help on Dirtybird, which both showcased and expanded upon their now-signature sound. The guys enlisted numerous vocalists, including Green Velvet, Dances With White Girls, and Sophiegrophy, to make Self Help feel like a packed house party – while leaving no doubt about who was hosting.  Self Help was followed by further experimentation and growth. Sam and Gavin have collaborated with Claude Vonstroke, Ardalan, Chris Lake and VNSSA just to name a few as well as remixed Channel Tres, LP Giobbi, The Knocks, Justin Jay, Gorgon City, Mindchatter; and put out music on Relief, Black Book, HotBOi Records and more. Their Rave Grave EP was the inaugural release on Diplo’s house-focused imprint Higher Ground.  Continuing to push boundaries, they have launched their own label Rules Don’t Apply Records, with the ethos just as the name states…No Rules, just good music.

Walker & Royce have spent years honing in on their one-of-a-kind style, meticulously crafting the sounds they want their fans to hear in clubs, at festivals and in their headphones. The result is a cohesive, career-defining body of work that firmly places the duo at the forefront of dance music's future.
