Midnight Community is a new radio series broadcasting exclusive sets from artists all over the world who in our opinion have real eclectic taste when it comes to Electronic Music.

For episode #100 we have @fejka selecting.

'Fejká' is not just a word, but a concept - a melodic blend between soft, dreamy atmospheres and the punchy vibe of techno. Torn between those two worlds like a lone wanderer, he developed his own unique way to find a perfect balance between both. His music offers a very atmospheric and soulful sound, laying somewhere between melancholy and euphoria, resulting in a unique interpretation of emotions which is seldom heard on the dancefloor. Originally from the Black Forest in Germany, he began producing his first tracks at just 17. Influences such as Kiasmos, HVOB, and Christian Löffler, contributed significantly to his development and shaped his atmospheric, and yet punchy style, until he received a personal invite from none other than Christian Löffler himself to join his label, Ki Records.

Captivated by the atmospheric vibe and the calm of ambient music, as well as the state of absolute ecstasy that provokes the powerful beat of techno, this artist decided to explore the perfect balance between both.

Brian Zajak, aka Fejká began his musical career at the age of 17. Torn between the dreamy soft atmosphere of ambient music, and the hard punchy vibe of techno, Fejká couldn’t decide which direction his music production would take. “Day/night, dream/dance, slow/fast – music was always split into two worlds for me” he says.  Thus, he decided to experiment with both, showing the development process of dream music into dance music.

Drawn to artists such as Christian Löffler, HVOB and Kiasmos, the appeal of his style lies in its varied influences, and ability to harness the best of two contrasting genres. In the end, it was Christian Löffler himself who approached him, leading to his Debut EP "Twilight" which was released 2017 on Löfflers Label Ki Records. His highly anticipated Debut Album "Reunion" will be released in Fall 2019.  With only 23 years, Fejká has already set an interesting start and is definitely an artist worth to watch out for.

A perfect example of something that is delicious because it is sweet, bitter and sour at the same time is today’s fantastic cocktail by Fejká. His smooth creation for Schirmchendrink is a very desirable sip, and the light sugary melodies but sour and sometimes bitterish melancholy is a flavor that is absolutely lovable!

(Story continued from Witchtape #61)
After a non-stop flight of 2 days and 1 night, the little witch was enjoying a very welcome shower under the waterfall at the foot of the mountain.  She started to shiver from the ice-cold melting water from the glaciers of Mount Hermon, while at the same time feeling purified by the crystal clear water which was slowly on its way southwards to the lowest place on planet earth… the Dead Sea.  A few minutes later, the little witch of the North was joined by a young teenage witch from the desert in the East and a 6000-year old witch from the Mediterranean shore on the West.  Soon they let themselves float in the river while holding each other in a tender embrace with their legs intertwining.  Despite the freezing cold water, the little witch soon warmed up by the close contact with the two other women.  Her body even started to glow as she felt the youthful energy of the desert witch enter through her skin, where it merged with the immense wisdom of the elder witch.  They floated gently on the water for a few minutes, before sinking deeper and deeper (of course witches can breathe under water).  The water became darker, and after a while the three witches got sucked into a cave, where the water was really murky.  Despite these inhospitable surroundings, the girl felt safe in the company of her two sisters witch, while they got swept away by the strong currents through the dark cave.  The little witch lost all notion of space and time in this dark abyss, only making sure not to lose her grip on her two companions.  Until finally, after what felt like an eternity, the current seemed to slow down while the water looked less murky.  A little later the water became even very clear, with a pleasant aquamarine color.  Gradually, underwater life came back and soon the 3 witches were in the middle of colorful little fish and lush green water plants.  The 3 women relaxed and loosened their grip on each other and started a spontaneous underwater ballet in the middle of this mesmerizing silent world.  It was so pleasant at the bottom of the lake, that the 3 witches were not the least bit in a hurry to get to the surface, which only happened quite a while later.  After resurfacing, the European girl was surprised to find herself in the middle of a vast lake, surrounded by majestic mountains.  The little witch looked to the North and recognized Mount Hermon far away in the distance, and she realized they must have travelled a vast distance through that endless dark cave.  The 3 witches swam to the shore where – to their great surprise – they found back their clothes which they had left behind at the foot of Mount Hermon.  Not that they were in a hurry to put their white dresses back on … they preferred to lie down in the grass and savor the wholesome energy of this holy lake, while their hair was drying in the soft sunlight (it was close to sunset).  The 3 women snuggled together while the little witch was wondering what would come next…

As summer is slowly starting up we’re happy to provide you with a foretaste of a sensationally cool summer drink: Oceanvs Orientalis’ Summer Reign is perfectly crafted with only the freshest summer jams.  

Founded by Safak Oz Kutle, Oceanvs Orientalis is a formation which aims to challenge the aesthetic perception in electronic music.

A few years back, the Turkey born producer was not even in electronic music. Working as a graphic designer in Istanbul, he was using his housemate’s copy of Ableton to make symphonic tracks influenced by his love of world and classical music. The turning point came when he put a kick-drum beneath his productions. Since 2011 he performs as DJ and live act. 

And he recently founded his own label, Kanto Records, which he describes as an art collective without restrictions of a run-of-the-mill label companies.

Oceanvs Orientalis, tunes are not in a hurry. So aren’t we on a hot summer day. And so aren’t we sipping on this delicious Summer Reign! Bartender, we’re having another round!

How are you? No, seriously, how are you? Do you feel the way you thought you would feel a month ago, or do you not feel good at all, but realize there’s no other option? Maybe you hadn't imagined anything in the first place but now you wish you had, or you feel neither good nor bad as those two words can’t really describe the way you feel. What is the thing that has changed but which you would rather keep the same way, and vice versa? What have you been missing the most from your life from before the pandemic and what will you never ever miss again? What has lost its meaning and what has acquired a new one? What have you decided to do once the lockdown is lifted for good, and when and where will you travel to when the planes start to fly again? How pleasant have these days been for you, or to what extent do you think they should never have occurred in the first place? There are always more questions than answers but everything seems a little mixed up right now. Anyway, today’s is the last Monday of spring, and we are publishing @fejka’s set, the 83rd out of 100 mixes that will be created for the “homard” project, which we hope to unveil to the world next year.

Fejká der Traumtänzer

Fejká begann im zarten Alter von 17 mit dem musizieren. Dabei lässt sich seine musikalische Ausrichtung irgendwo zwischen Deep House sowie atmosphärischem Downtempo verortnen. Fejká balanciert auf der Mitte. Er möchte kraftvollen und gleichermaßen verträumten Sound erzeugen. Musik zu der man tanzen, sowie auch entspannt die Augen schließen kann. 
2017 veröffentlichte Fejká seine Debüt EP Twilight. Die Songs erschienen auf Ki Records, dem Label von Christian Löffler. Dieser nahm den jungen Fejká von da an unter seine Fittiche und unterstützt ihn, wo er nur kann. 
Der heutige KataHaifisch Podcast lässt sich am besten mit dem Adjektiv magisch-verträumt beschreiben. Beim hinhören schweifen die Gedanken ab. Zeitweise tritt eine sanfte Melancholie ins Bewusstsein, dann wieder freudige Gelassenheit. Der 61 minütige Mix fließt durch einen hindurch wie ein einziger Track. Ein Fluss bestehend aus Frequenzen, Instrumenten und positiven Vibes.
