On this special day honoring women around the world, we are pleased to present this unique meditation from Ram Dass on the Divine Mother. Ram Dass recalls how Maharaji would always speak to the Westerners of the importance of Divine feminine energy. As young men and women in those early days with Him, it was clear that their path to becoming whole and complete in their search for unconditional love, compassion, and wisdom depended on our relationship with the Divine Feminine.

From then on, everything in our life becomes a vehicle for awakening and we are free to open ourselves to all forms of the universe...

I Am Loving Awareness (feat. Ram Dass)

Ram Dass leads a 28-minute Vipassana meditation on bringing our mind to one point through the breath. This process must be done gently, the mind must remain soft, subtle, buoying and light. 

As your mind begins to concentrate, emotions will rise to the surface - greed, lust, doubt, anger, agitation… just notice them, don’t feed them or judge them - then gently return to the breath.

We keep the awareness gently riding on the breath, noting sensations rising and then passing away, like leaves floating down the stream.

BEHIND THE PROJECT
When I spent time with Ram Dass in Maui recently, he asked me about our music. I said, “We take the love that people give us and send it back out as music. It’s a feedback loop.”

“Ah,” he stopped me, grinning. “That’s your ego talking. You see that? Your ego gives and takes. It manipulates. Your true essence is to simply be the love. There’s nothing to do there.”

It’s a subtle difference but I sit with this every day. He’s not saying that our ego is bad; we need it, too. He’s saying that there’s a seat of consciousness behind the thinking mind that is pure love. Or call it pure awareness, or God. Same thing. When you access that place, you simply just be. There’s nothing to do there, no desire to attempt to change yourself or anyone else. You are perfect just as you are. I’ve felt it and it’s liberating.

I am honored to present this collaboration with Ram Dass. It’s an homage to someone who has pointed me in the right direction. We hope it brings you joy. Set aside 30 mins and dive deep.

Ram Dass Breathing Meditation

Ram Dass first went to India in 1967. He was still Dr. Richard Alpert, a prominent Harvard psychologist and psychedelic pioneer with Dr. Timothy Leary. He continued his psychedelic research until that fateful Eastern trip in 1967, when he traveled to India. In India, he met his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, affectionately known as Maharajji, who gave Ram Dass his name, which means “servant of God.” Everything changed then – his intense dharmic life started, and he became a pivotal influence on a culture that has reverberated with the words “Be Here Now” ever since. Ram Dass’ spirit has been a guiding light for three generations, carrying along millions on the journey, helping to free them from their bonds as he works through his own.
