Ram Dass talks about the promises and the pitfalls of the spiritual path, and the shift of reality that happened in the sixties that was predicated by psychedelics. This shift blew apart the traditional religious systems that were in place at the time, and the psychedelics gave people a connection that they had never experienced before: a feeling that they were interconnected with the universe. When we see how much of our behavior is a defense mechanism to alleviate the pain of separateness, we begin to realize the importance of healthy intuitive and compassionate hearts.

In this lecture Ram Dass encourages us to listen to our heart in order to find our natural path. When we can quiet our mind we begin to experience a force in us that is designing and intuitively validating our actions. We discover harmony in total involvement, without attachment. We create the space to find our part and to play it, with compassion, love, and humanity.

The more evolved you become spiritually, the less boundaries there are between my energy and THE energy. When your energy is used in a way that is destructive, meaning that it creates suffering to you and other people and creates pain of separation, you want to keep working to move that energy in other ways, to create a more compassionate environment.

Ecstasy is the embodiment of divine love, we radiate love radiate out through our hearts into every cell of our bodies. Our hearts are our gateways to the blissful silence of union with all that is. 
As we journey into the heart we surrender ourselves open to feel whatever is holding us back from fully receiving divine love. In the dance we dance and sound to let go and then we create more space within us to receive love. 
The more we feel, the more we become empty and the more we empty the more we can receive, the more we receive, the deeper our ecstatic rapture, the more total our divine intoxication.

Ram Dass first went to India in 1967. He was still Dr. Richard Alpert, a prominent Harvard psychologist and psychedelic pioneer with Dr. Timothy Leary. He continued his psychedelic research until that fateful Eastern trip in 1967, when he traveled to India. In India, he met his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, affectionately known as Maharajji, who gave Ram Dass his name, which means “servant of God.” Everything changed then – his intense dharmic life started, and he became a pivotal influence on a culture that has reverberated with the words “Be Here Now” ever since. Ram Dass’ spirit has been a guiding light for three generations, carrying along millions on the journey, helping to free them from their bonds as he works through his own.
