As we edge nearer to our 100th mix, we seek to Berlin for textural techno melodies from dutch producer and DJ Konduku aka Ruben Üvez. Having graced some of our favorite labels like Donato Dozzy's Spazio Disponibile, Nous'Klaer, Delsin, Midgar and more, Üvez has become a maestro in layering UK techno stylings with a European flavour, finding that perfect balance between space and drums. 
His wisdom in also finding tracks of this style have become an integral part of his DJ sets being incorporated beautifully to the point of losing yourself even in the more relentless parts. A journey to say the least that very few can put you on, displaying Üvez's approach that could be comparable to that of modern greats like Batu and Donato Dozzy. And that is what Konduku has done here on Phonica 99. Recorded live from a Midgar party in Berlin recently that transports you to that time and moment so alluringly, we have a chat to Üvez more about the concept and where his head was at during this set.

From breaking through in the early 90s right when things were still done wild, helming the legendary Lost club nights from 1992 onward, onto becoming a pioneering figure of the UK's underground, it's safe to say Steve Bicknell ticks all the boxes of a self-made myth in the scene. Tirelessly pushing the boundaries of techno as we know it, the British don has been carving out his name in gold letters amongst the pantheon of DJs capable to evolve and transcend both themselves and their audience through the cathartic power of music. Always a step ahead, Bicknell treats us to two hours of resolutely immersive and achingly powerful soul-search, seamlessly criss-crossing our brains with his top-of-the-range anti-bullshit techno medicine. We welcome Tokyo-finest Mari Sakurai in our recording series. 
Mari recorded this set at WWWβ club in Tokyo in March 2024 for PYRO.

PYRO is a new party that promotes techno from all over Japan, led by Mari Sakurai and Shinsuke Goto and featuring Shinji Stamaria from Kobe, YMT from Osaka, and k:sea, which relocated from Sendai to Tokyo. 

The event focuses on showcasing the local scene of a new generation of DJs throughout Japan and to develop their sound. 

Mari opened the night and blessed us with a very textured and flawless session. Hope you dig it as we do!
