This is a tale of an adventure that started in the woods then took everyone for a ride.  

It all started with this hillbilly that wrecked his truck while reaching for beer.  One drunken forest ditch later and some down home fun with the authority, the train's horn beckoned us to the bridge.  Only hours later we discovered under this very bridge, an odd tribe garbed in beads and had already enveloped the land.  They were listening to very strange music.....alas! The echos of skids and claps whispered our way and guided us to a not-so-incognito skate park nestled under a viaduct.

And then the KV2's sang with joy and the lights and lasers blasted their colors until invisible under the early morning light!  And the dancers laughed and played and danced the night away.

In our presence were the champions of food.  They claimed they were from the land of Portland but I believe food that tasted so good could have only one explanation......aliens.  Aliens must have come in the middle of the night and bestowed upon them the ancient knowledge of pork tacos and quinoa wraps with home made salsa.  I hope one day I will cross paths again with those champions of food.

And they lived happily ever after

Pacific Northwest vocalist Ilen Halogram provides the vocals for Luke's 2nd release on Uniting Souls, a cutting-edge deep tech house original titled "Motive Amour". A psychedelic-tinged driving house track, which gradually builds to an ethereal crescendo of acid-tinged kicks & strings, peaking, releasing, dropping back, ideally-suited for peak hours!

For the 4th remix, we enlisted the talents of our longtime Los Angeles Uniting Souls resident, Jordan Strong, and his new production project with Knoe-1, a prolific duo calling themselves Moon Unit. The newest release on Seattle label Uniting Souls features a New York house legend - Dj Onionz! Onionz & Uniting Souls go way back to Ramiro's San Francisco days in the 90s, so the EP is a reunion of sorts, rekindling the creative energies shared between these two house music pioneers for almost two decades. 

In addition to Onionz' original, the release unites the vibes from coast to coast, with remixes by Seattle's international ambassador of house, Pezzner, San Diego's Jason Tokita,  Florida's Brian Busto, and Los Angeles producer duo Knoe1 & Jordan Strong (Jordan has been a Uniting Souls resident since 1998).

Onionz' original is a sublime excursion into beat-driven deep tech house, with a moody psychedelic synth melody at its peak, evoking the feeling of what space travel must really feel like. Each remixer brings their own flavor to the table, with a little something for all tastes.

Uniting Souls Music returns for the imprint’s twenty third release with “Amphibians” by longtime Seattleite and Uniting Souls resident Jeromy Nail. 

As part of the Uniting Souls Music collective since the early 2000s, Jeromy sharpened his DJ’ing skills on many late night dance floors, including residences at the seminal Flammable Sundays – the West Coast’s longest running house weekly twenty years strong – and the (now defunct) electronic dance music haven See Sound Lounge. With releases and remixes for the likes of Viva Recordings, Build It Records, Bomb Recordings, Hype & Soul, House Call, and, of course, the Uniting Souls label, Jeromy’s been busy on the scene. 

Built around chopped vocals and double-bass samples overlaid with moody pads and melodic elements, the “Amphibians” original mix emits a quirky flavor rooted in a four-on-the-floor foundation. The dub mix re-contextualizes the original elements in a deeper, minimal, bass-laden context that could be taken as ‘micro house.’ 

First up on remix duties, Philadelphia’s Pete Moss delivers an extended, stripped-down mix of the original that’s sprinkled with the vocal and melodic phrasing and fortified by a tougher bass line. Portland-based Jon Cates, best known for his work with Om Records as part of Cates&dpL, also provides a take on “Amphibians” with a deep, driving tech-house infused version, keeping the energy level high with layered percussion and drum elements, thick bass, and subtle textures that capture the essence of the original but take it down a fresh new path.
