Welcome to EP-328 of the NDYD Radio Show where we take a detour to Seattle, WA for a live recording from the famous Monkey Loft - The sound of the underground in that city.

I had an absolute blast at my first gig of 2024. It wasn't my first rodeo at 'The City of Goodwill' but it was close to be one of my favorite visits this time around. It was special because the Monkey Loft was the first club that I ever played at in Seattle years ago and the heads over there sure know how to handle a dance floor. No house track was underneath their dancing. I also had the privilege to meet some fans and followers of the show that came to say hi and told me that it was the reason they were there. The def put me in the right mood for the night.

This set is dedicated to you Seattle fans - you know who you are :) I hope this brings good memories of an awesome night. Thank you to all who showed up and we will do it again for sure.

Originally I had something else in the works but ultimately decided to bring forth my LIVE recorded set from when Ricardo visited Seattle back in January and I had the pleasure of opening for the legend @ The Monkey Loft!  Once a year for the past 8 years I've been lucky enough to bring my friend north to rock crowds and I thought, "he's not the only one that can record a set."  :)  Hope you all enjoy, I'm already looking forward to Ricardo's next Seattle return!'

Bio

Jon has been DJing Since 1994. In 1996 he founded Concepts Records, which became one of the front running sources for dance music in the Pacific North West. In that same year, He also helped establish Vinylized, an 18+ club that helped cement him as one of the Northwest's favorite DJs. After selling Concepts in 1999, Jon along with partner Brent Laurence started Tilted Records, a prominent west coast house label which has over 70 releases by artists such as Wesley Holmes, Dj Ali, Miguel Migs, Marques Wyatt, Julias Papp, Jay J, Da Sunlounge, Pattern Drama, Andromo, Moosefly, David Scuba, and many others. Since then, Jon's DJ career has been in full swing. He holds a residency at Ocaso Music Festival in Tamarindo Costa Rica, has played Desert Hearts Festival in Southern California, and traveled recently all over the U.S, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile, Guatemala, Panama, El Salvador, and Costa Rica for gigs. Jon has been in the studio as of late making some new music with Pattern Drama out of the NY, Hector Moralez, Tony H., Nonfiction, and Simon Houser (releasing under their "Lee Houser" moniker.) Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.

davidDewey was banished from his home planet onto a passing meteorite. His crime? .Rocking.too.hard. While aimlessly drifting the cosmos, scattered radio warbles and strange errant snare crashes sifted into his cranial transceiver. Several millennia later, dD realized the broadcasts were coming from a tiny blue blip of a planet just four light years away. Decades have passed since he crash-landed in the Pacific Ocean where he was rescued with warm welcome by the Seattle Underground.....who just happened to be raging aboard an abandoned deep sea-oil platform. dD had found planet Earth and was instantly inspired by this new form of rocking. He immediately set off to what would become the greatest journey in the history....of ever.  Since that historic day, davidDewey has mastered the control of human emotion through his presentation of auditory bliss. Often to be found inspiring celebration and dancing among the trees, deep in the high desert or just about anywhere the vibe calls. dD will carry on with his psychedelic mind altering rocking, until one day, he is banished again.

Bringing 23 plus years mixing , 18yrs plus producing,  and playing along the side of legends Donald Glaude, Terry Mullen, Keoki, John Kelley, Bad Boy Bill, to name a few, Dj XRSTCHN isnt going to be stopping anytime soon.  His ability to adapt to any situation/crowd has enabled him to play any time slot.  Every set of his is unique, every track he plays is remixed on the fly. No two sets are ever the same, resulting in a creative and refreshing sound.  
Growing up Xrstchn played the saxophone, and learned how to read write music.  As he grew older he then began learning drums.  , then came dance music.  Early partys in Portland and Seattle rooted his need and want to start mixing, hence his journey of the next 25yrs.  Alot of passion for the love of music, pushed him to do what felt natural , produce.  So as fate would have it releasing tracks is the next stage of his music.  The last couple years has been focused on producing and releasing a full length album., which should be dropping this year.  Along with spending endless night and days , working on his music, he also has started his own record label SMART MUSIK RECORDINGS, which will be releasing his tracks this year.
