Mallorca is a Spanish island in the western Mediterranean Sea, approximately 170 kilometers from the Spanish mainland near Barcelona.

Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, consisting of the Gymnesian and Pitiusan islands, which form an autonomous community within Spain. The capital of the Balearic Islands, Palma, is located on Mallorca. The official languages ​​are Catalan and Spanish. Lebanon is a country in Western Asia on the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south along the Blue Line. To the west, it is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon is considered part of the Mashreq and the Levant. In 2022, it had a population of approximately 5.5 million, almost half of them in the capital region of Beirut. The next two largest cities are Tripoli in the north and Sidon in the south.

Originally the land of the Phoenicians, Lebanon, like the entire Levant, became part of the empire of Alexander the Great in ancient times, later of the Roman Empire, and during the Islamic-Arab expansion between 634 and 640 AD, part of the Arab world, to which it remains to this day. Its population speaks Arabic and belongs to various Islamic and Christian denominations, with the Christian population being particularly high compared to that in other Arab countries (estimated at just over half of the total population after the founding of the Lebanese state in 1943, today just over 40%).

The 1943 National Pact established a political system in which specific positions and offices were assigned to different religious groups according to a fixed distribution key (religious proportionality). Following an economic boom that earned the country the reputation of being the "Switzerland of the Middle East," lingering tensions between the population groups erupted in 1975 into a civil war that lasted until 1990, during which time the two neighboring states, Syria and Israel, occupied Lebanon. The internal Lebanese front lines ran between Christians, Sunnis, Shiites, Druze, and Palestinians, between right-wing and left-wing forces. Israeli troops withdrew from Lebanon in 2000, and the last Syrian troops withdrew in 2005. Since then, the country's reconstruction has been hampered by its indirect involvement in the region's larger conflicts, such as the ties between Lebanese Shiites and Syria and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as between Lebanese Sunnis and Saudi Arabia. The former Christian dominance has diminished due to emigration, while the influence of the Iran-backed Islamist Hezbollah has grown in recent years.

Since 2019, Lebanon has been mired in a severe economic crisis. The Lebanese state accumulated nearly $90 billion in debt by 2020, and an estimated one-third of the population is at risk of starvation. The food supply situation is strained, partly due to the approximately 1.5 million Syrian refugees, the world's largest proportion of refugees relative to the total population of any country.

Taiwan is an island nation in East Asia that is diplomatically recognized by only a few countries due to the One China Policy. Its territory consists of the main island of Taiwan (99%) and other smaller islands. This technologically advanced industrial nation, which produces well over half of all semiconductor components manufactured worldwide, has a population of approximately 23.5 million.

The Republic of China was proclaimed in Nanking on January 1, 1912, following the Xinhai Revolution on the Chinese mainland. The island of Taiwan, under Chinese rule from 1683 to 1895 and from 1895 to 1945 under the rule of the Japanese Empire, only returned to the Republic of China at the end of World War II. In 1949 – following the defeat in the civil war against the Communist Party and the founding of the People's Republic of China on the mainland – the government, elites, and armed forces of the Republic of China withdrew to the island of Taiwan. There, the Kuomintang, led by Chiang Kai-shek, established a one-party rule that lasted for several decades, maintaining a state of emergency. The second half of the 20th century was characterized by high economic growth; towards the end of the 1980s, the Kuomintang initiated a gradual democratization process. In several scales of democracy measurement, the Republic of China (Taiwan) is today, alongside Japan and South Korea, one of the most democratic states in Asia, comparable to Germany and Switzerland.

Even after the proclamation of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the government of the Republic of China initially represented the Chinese state at the United Nations and was a permanent member of the UN Security Council. As a result of the People's Republic's one-China policy, however, more and more states severed diplomatic relations with the Republic of China, which was forced to cede its UN membership to the People's Republic in 1971 with UN Resolution 2758. In 1979, the United States finally severed diplomatic relations after establishing official relations with the People's Republic (Taiwan Relations Act). Today, only a minority of the international community maintains formal diplomatic relations with the government in Taipei. The status of the Republic of China under international law is disputed and is the subject of the Taiwan conflict.

The Northern Mariana Islands, fully known as the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, are a sub-territory of the Mariana Islands, an unincorporated territory of the United States in the Pacific Ocean, south of Japan and north of Guam.

The area consists of 16 islands stretching over 500 kilometers, of which Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are the largest. The Marianas Trench Marine National Monument was designated there in 2009.

86 percent of the population speaks a language other than English in private, including Micronesian and Polynesian languages. Population growth is 2.8 percent per year. Due to the predominantly female migrant workers in the textile sector, the Northern Mariana Islands used to have the largest female-to-female ratio in the world at 1:0.77, but this is no longer the case following the collapse of the textile industry. The State of Palestine (Arabic دولة فلسطين, DMG Daulat Filasṭīn) is a de facto state in the Near East. He claims the areas of the West Bank including Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Palestine is recognized as a state by 146 of the 193 member states of the United Nations; The neighboring country Israel, the USA, the German-speaking countries and some other countries in the Western world do not do this, but maintain official relations with it.

In 1988, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) declared independence, which has since claimed all of the territory occupied by Israel since 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. From 1994 onwards, several agreements led to Israel's withdrawal and thus to limited independence for Palestine in the autonomous areas. In 2007, due to the Fatah-Hamas conflict, Palestine split into two territories: the West Bank, ruled by Fatah, with around three million inhabitants, and the Gaza Strip, ruled by the radical Islamic Hamas, with around two million inhabitants. Both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are governed by authoritarian rule. After 2006, no elections were held in either area. Freedom of the press and freedom of expression are severely restricted.

In 2024, the International Court of Justice declared in a legal opinion that Israel was occupying the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law. Israel must evacuate all Israeli settlers from the occupied territories and compensate for the damage caused by the occupation. The legal opinion is not binding.

Luxembourg is a democratic state in the form of a constitutional monarchy in western Central Europe. Arabic is the country's official language, but English is also widely spoken.
The UAE has the seventh largest oil reserves in the world, is the most developed economy in the Middle East and one of the richest countries in the world with a per capita gross domestic product of $71,139 (adjusted for purchasing power in 2020). The United Nations Development Program lists the country as one of the countries with very high levels of human development. The International Monetary Fund classifies the UAE as a “high income developing economy”. The country is a founding member of the Gulf Cooperation Council and a member state of the Arab League, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OPEC and the World Trade Organization.

The UAE has around 10 million inhabitants, but only around 10 percent of them are nationals. The majority of the population are migrant workers; this is the second highest rate of migrant workers in the world after Qatar. Due to labor migration, 40 percent of all UAE residents come from India (28 percent) and Pakistan (12 percent) alone. Because migrants are predominantly men, the UAE also has the world's second-highest proportion of men in the total population.

The UAE is governed by authoritarian rule. Freedom of expression is severely restricted and serious human rights violations occur regularly in the United Arab Emirates, especially against women and migrant workers.

Mongolia is a landlocked country in East Asia, between Russia and China. Territorially over four times the size of Germany, the country is the least populated country in the world with around three million inhabitants. More than 40 percent of the country's population lives in the capital Ulaanbaatar. The majority of the population are Mongolians, the slight majority of whom follow Mongolian Buddhism.

The national territory covers most of the Mongolian Plateau. Due to the nature of the soil and the climate, agriculture can hardly be practiced in Mongolia. The landscape is dominated by grassy steppes, with mountains to the north and west, and the Gobi Desert to the south. The most important economic sectors are nomadic livestock farming and mining. The country is one of the ten countries richest in raw materials in the world.

Excavations in the Gobi show that Homo erectus lived in what is now Mongolia 500,000 years ago. Even before the beginning of the Christian era, equestrian nomads such as the Xiongnu or Xianbei united to form large tribes. In 1206, Genghis Khan founded the Mongol Empire, which stretched across Asia and into Europe and was the largest territorially contiguous empire in human history. His grandson Kublai Khan conquered China and founded the Yuan dynasty. After the collapse of this empire, Buddhism increasingly dominated the state. During the Qing Dynasty, “Outer Mongolia” was created as a Chinese province in 1644 on the territory of today's Mongolian state.

From 1912 the region gained extensive autonomy rights. In 1921, the Soviet Union established a puppet government, which proclaimed the Mongolian People's Republic in 1924. During its existence, it was completely dependent on the Soviet Union politically, militarily and economically. It was only during the revolutions in 1989 that the country made the peaceful transition to a democratic parliamentary system of government. On February 12, 1992, parliament sealed the end of the communist system by adopting a new constitution. Since then, Mongolia has been a stable democracy. According to the 2022 Democracy Index, Mongolia is the only democracy in the world completely surrounded by clear dictatorships. The Mongolian population is particularly concerned about the relationship with China, as they are aware of the lack of chances in a possible military conflict and are increasingly becoming dependent on this threatening backdrop.
