India is a state in South Asia. India covers most of the Indian subcontinent. The Himalayas form India's natural northern border, and the Indian Ocean surrounds the national territory in the south. The territory of India has been civilized at least since the Bronze Age Indus Civilization. Since its independence from the United Kingdom and the British Empire in 1947, it has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, initially as an empire with the British monarch as Emperor of India, and since 1950 as a democratic and secular republic. Since then, India's political system has been based on a parliamentary republic modeled on the British Westminster system.

Despite constitutional freedom of religion, Indian society is dominated by a religiously hierarchical caste system. By far the largest religious group is Hindus, followed by Muslims, Christians, and the Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains, who historically originate from India. The United Nations Development Program ranks India among the countries with medium human development. In the 2021 Human Development Index, India ranked 132nd out of 191 countries worldwide.

Economically, India is considered an emerging market. It belongs to the O5 and BRICS countries and to the Group of Twenty (G20). Despite its low per capita income and wealth, in some cases severe poverty, high unemployment, and pronounced income inequality, India is the third and sixth largest economies in the world (adjusted for purchasing power and in nominal terms), respectively, due to its large population. In 2015, the country was the fastest-growing economy in the G20 for the first time, has developed into a center for information technology and services, and boasts a steadily growing middle class and one of the world's largest software industries.

Hindu nationalist politician Narendra Modi has been Prime Minister of India since 2014. Since then, critics have increasingly criticized his authoritarian tendencies and the restriction of minority rights.

Serbia is a landlocked country in Southeastern and Central Europe. The Netherlands are one of the four autonomous countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy in the Near East. Africa is one of Earth's continents. Its area of ​​30.2 million km² corresponds to approximately 20% of the planet's total land area, and it has a population of approximately 1.4 billion people (2022). This makes it the second-largest continent after Asia, both in terms of area and population. Almost all African states are members of the United Nations and the African Union. The continent is predominantly rural and characterized by high birth rates, which are declining due to modernization.
