Melodic Complexity

Bit of a Viking thing going on with this track.  

To me, Vinland symbolizes the adventurous spirit of the Norse people, and their seafaring skills.  I wanted to compose an adventurous piece that captured that spirit, and imagined the meeting of two tribes; the Norse and the Native Americans, people who both revered thunder gods! With 'Vinland,' I endeavored to capture and convey that sense of adventure and cultural encounter.

Woke up this mornin', got a deadline in my head,
But I rolled over, stayed a little longer in my bed.
Coffee's brewin', but my mind's still snoozin' slow,
Got that procrastination blues, everywhere I go.

Sat at my desk, with a pen in my hand,
Stared at the paper, but I got no plan.
Clock keeps tickin', but I got nothin' to show,
Got that procrastination blues, it's a heavy load.

Oh, the guilt's a weight, I can't deny,
But I push it off, and I wonder why.
Tasks keep pilin' up, like a mountain high,
Got the blues so deep, I just wanna cry.

Emails are callin', but I hit ignore,
Laundry's a mountain, spillin' on the floor.
Excuses come easy, like a river flow,
Got that procrastination blues, won't let me go.

Every time I try to rise, it pulls me to the ground.
Procrastination blues, can't shake it away,
I'll get it done tomorrow, just not today.

Maybe someday soon, I'll break these chains,
Find a way to shake off these lazy pains.
Till then, I'm stuck in this endless maze,
Guess I'll finish this song...

Even as a small child I wanted to learn a musical instrument...

...since there was a music school in our small town where I grew up, but it was limited to the activities of the local musicians' band, the choice was rather limited... because piano, guitar or saxophone were not offered and that's why I decided me for the trumpet, which was not used for cast-technical reasons, so the FLÜGELHORN became my instrument...
In my youth I turned my back on music and was active in sports towards the end of my teenage years.
