The intro unfolds into a enchanting melody coercing you into a wide cinematic soundscape. Dark atmospherics and perfectly deep metallic pads create reflections which lure you to an otherworldly space. The sublime glide of the track is soon interrupted by a pitched transition which charges into a colossal drop of blistering drums full of razor sharp transients and a full bodied low end with distorted warm overtone layers. A contrasting mix of fluttering stabs and rhythmic percussion run along side flowing neuro bass lines held together beautifully with progressive chords. Shyun delivers a class piece of modern dance floor production laced with a superb infusion of musicality.

Ed Rush and Audio teamed up under their Killbox moniker, fresh from their recent album on RAM Records, and deliver a crazy, frantic interpretation, laced with all kinds of mad percussion. FuntCase took everyone by surprise and drops a gruesome 174 workout that switches from halfstep to full on D&B halfway through and Oolacile represents the US with a grimey dubstep version

Viper have always been known as a label that has actively sought out new talent to bring to the spotlight; their strength comes from both a diverse roster, a constant stream of fresh talent, and some of the scene’s most respected veterans, all in one place. With names like Metrik, Fred V & Grafix, ShockOne, Delta Heavy, Sigma, Nero, DC Breaks, and more all starting their career on the prolific label, there’s no question label-boss Futurebound has a knack for discovering diamonds in the rough.

Following Viper’s newest mystery signee Giganti, Futurebound has just signed another talented newcomer to the label, this time going by the name of Millbrook. 
Millbrook is no stranger to releasing killer music; a look into his past will provide insight how he cut his teeth writing and releasing drum and bass under previous alias Vacuum. With an impressive amount of support and airtime from the likes of Bassnectar, Noisia, DJ Hype, Camo & Krooked and Glitch Mob already under his belt, Michel Losch, aka Millbrook, is now ready to elevate his sound to the next level in a new partnership with Viper.

Making a remarkable introduction for himself, ‘The Rise’ is the first taste of the Luxembourg based producer’s rebrand. Written with the talented Vorso and featuring industry favourite Mad Hed City on vocals, ‘The Rise’ is a raw, gritty, pounding masterpiece with a drop that is guaranteed to leave jaws on the floor. A charming intro melody quickly evolves into something much more sinister, emotion, followed by pure adrenaline, pumping from Mad Hed City’s iconic voice before breaking down into something minimal, funky, and all around technically brilliant. 
The flip side of the single gives us a glimpse at Millbrook’s much more elegant side – a cinematic opening teases at his sound design ability while introducing a variety of power-packed chords for an instantly memorable tune. Delivering a different kind of funk with the drop, Millbrook has certainly proven he is a force to be reckoned with with this release.

A celebration of the label’s diversity, Millbrook’s introductory release promises a lot more to look forward to. Keep your eyes peeled for more from Millbrook this year, alongside Viper’s growing roster of new and formidable talent.

T & Sugah have been raising their profile continuously for the past few years, with stellar releases on Liquicity and Viper Recordings, as well as prolific output for their own label High Tea. Dualistic on the other hand has been drawing more attention to himself with vocal contributions to several other artists’ music, but also adds to the production values on this one. The teaming up of the threesome is a perfect example of 1 plus 1 equals 3, as the main vocal, the samples, the riffs and the drop all exhale power and energy and make for an excellent listening experience as well as devastating dancefloor impact. Once we are all allowed back in clubs and at festivals, expect this to be one of the tracks that have you throwing your hands up!

Even if this year hasn’t given us much, it has at least provided us with some incredible music, and adding to the list is the new project by dubstep superstars Doctor P and Phil Roksonix. Freaks & Geeks is the name of their new alias and they have a plethora of drum&bass tracks lined up for release. Rampage Recordings is incredibly honoured to be chosen to send the very first of those into the universe. ‘Discovery’ is an astonishing masterclass in dancefloor liquid drum&bass, complete with spaced out atmospherix, punchy drums and a lead riff that will stay with you for days to come. All of that is topped off by the vocals of Ruth Royall, who has established herself this past year as one of the leading ladies of the scene. After working with Macky Gee, Grafix and Pola & Bryson, she was now enlisted to add an extra dose of awesomeness to this already outstanding release.

Freaks & Geeks are set to pop up on some of the biggest labels in the world in the next 6 months or so, but they’ll have a hard time surpassing the goosebump-inducing qualities of ‘Discovery’. The song is destined to make us long for clubs and festivals even more and when those finally return, DJs can expect this to be way up on the punters’ request lists!

On top of the mindblowing tour de force of ‘Discovery’, the twosome add a second track to further demonstrate their powers: ‘Helter Skelter’ is aptly titled, and brings the rukkus like the best of ‘em: massive midrange riffs and relentless drums make this the perfect tune to smash the rave to bits when all else has failed.
