Mandidextrous has not just inserted their own coined subgenres within the back catalogue of ProgRAM. But they’ve also smashed rigid paradigms as well as risen to prominence as part of the mentorship scheme of the 30 year strong sister-label RAM Records and EQ50, the collective redressing the gender balance within drum & bass. After showcasing a mammoth number of tour dates, which included last year’s XOYO RAM Records show in London, they make a return this year with another packed out festival season and a brand new single ‘Express Yourself / Radiator’ alongside fellow Bristolian Matt Scratch. With the latest string of successes coming as no surprise after being labelled as part of the 'Ones to Watch' segment this year by BBC Radio 1.

The first out of two brand new tracks from Mandidextrous, ‘Express Yourself’ kicks into play first. Beginning on a more melodic vein which pays homage to their host of reworks, ‘Express Yourself’ takes you deep into murkier bass levels, world’s away from the the 4/4 section of their production. The flipside presents you with ‘Radiator’ featuring Matt Scratch, back on the chiseled grooves and clubbing kicks which help Mandidextrous command dancefloors. So once again, it’s time to get with the ProgRAM. Opening the door for a new era of drum & bass in 2022.

Should A Know

Standout upcoming Drum & Bass label Monk Audio continue to set both trends and pace among the new school with their latest EP, courtesy of the supremely talented Mela. Based out of Guildford, Mela has already contributed a slew of high profile, high octane 175 cuts to the ever-growing Monk discography and his latest effort, the lead track from this latest EP, is the pick of the bunch. 'LDN' builds on the success and frightening ferocity of 'Recognise' and the 'Valley Low' EP to create a sumptuous beast, led by Break-influenced drums and percs and a ruptured, seething bassline. It's a big comparison to make, but it's deservedly earnt here.

Mela - LDN [Monk Audio] [OTW Premiere]

This year [2019] I was given the absolute honour and mega challenge of composing all the closing ceremony tracks for Boomtown Fair to be used over the two main stages Relyc and Nucleus . 

This was a mammoth task and took me 2 months or so to complete creating two original tracks Artificial Intelligence (D&B , Techno) and 2 remixes of Baiana by the amazing Barbatuques (D&B , Techno) Sadly the Techno version of Baiana was not used but here it is for you guys to enjoy anyway. 

I would like to thank Lak and all the team at Boomtown for this awesome opportunity and for having faith in me. It is by far the most monumental thing I have done in my musical career to date. 

Sadly we were un able to release these tracks anywhere else other than here and these tracks are available for free download Via Hypeddit as it would be fab to gain some extra followers of my music. 

As always having been a Boomtown resident since way back when I look forward to seeing you all on the dance floors in 2020 . You will be able to find me at the Scrapyard no doubt jumping around in the DJ booth like a lunatic.
