Erb N Dub was last seen on Technique as part of the musical superhero team-up that goes by the name of Hashtag. Since then, he's been busy adding brand new chapters to his story. From his live project, Wicked City, through his four deck sets combining D&B with scratches and live drums, to his mammoth undertaking of developing his own dance music studio complex, it's clear he's a musician with ambition.

And that ambition is perfectly summed up by the motto “Let Me Fly”, this EP's title track. Skope shares production duties and smoking vocals are laced by Damien Soul. As Damien's blue-sky voice soars over reinforced-concrete beats and gritty mids and basses, this brings alive the sound of summer in the city. With both a full-fat Club Mix, and a Radio Mix to choose from, this is an anthem that proves D&B can go hard even when the sun's out.

Talking of going hard, next we step into “Moshpit”. Airy pads and chimes are quickly annihilated by uncompromising serrated-blade evolving synth strikes, building to a steel-toed dropkick as the beats and bass hit. This is grimey dancefloor material, for when its time to pull the ravers' backs off the wall.

“Parallax” offers a new perspective. Classic-sounding arpeggiated figures dance and intersect, leading to a drop in which pared-back percussion makes way for a head-nodding pizzicato-flavoured bassline. This is catchy, bouncy music with a pedigree that stretches back to eighties electro.

Finally, Erb N Dub gives us “Paper Chasing”. This one will have a nostalgic feel for those heads who remember raving to dark techiness in the late nineties and early noughties. Classic tropes are reignited for 2014 in an almost beatless eulogy to that style. This is a no-apology, lighters in the air piece for those that know.

With this EP, Erb N Dub has proven once more, as if it needed proving, that he's a consummate musician rather than simply an assembly-line beatmaker. Every track expertly delivers its own mood and atmosphere, each one different and each one powerful. So, it's time to join the Erb N Dub journey and see where his ambition can take us now.

Origin Unknown have been highly influential since their first output and you can still see stylistic remnants today throughout the drum and bass genre.

'Pop It Off' is the third single from The Prototypes forthcoming debut album ‘City Of Gold’ on Viper Recordings, available from the 3rd May, with the album dropping 2 weeks later on 17th May 2015.

‘Pop It Off’ features the distinct vocals of Trinidad and Toboggan artist, Mad Hed City (aka Kerwin Prescott). In typical Prototypes dance-floor anthem style, this one is sure to become a DJ's favourite. Twisted baselines and sharp beats are topped off with a dancehall vocal that will have the ravers skanking.

The package also comes backed with a remix from hotly tipped Black Butter artist Jaded. The Jaded remix uses to the awesome Mad Hed City to great effect by dropping the pitch and reworking the original elements into a bass house banger!

When Tantrum Desire drops a brand new EP, we all sit up and take notice. Those in the know will have already heard tracks from this release like 'Shimmy' and 'Step to the Sound' lighting up raves and airwaves everywhere. Top tier deejay support on Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss and in some of the biggest dances around means that the 'Blue Moon EP' is already a tried and tested essential.

First up we get the bouncing bomb that is 'Shimmy'. A shadowy intro morphs and builds into a powerhouse drop, when that bassline pushes the levels of funk through the roof. Add in the switch-ups and modulations that Tantrum Desire throws at us from all angles, and you can't help being magnetised by the mayhem.

Then there's 'Step to the Sound'. Discordant strings and sirens give us a warning of what's to come, then Nuklear MC steps up to the mic to take things one notch more gassy. With the tension cranked to absolute max, Tantrum Desire pulls the trigger and unleashes a dancefloor-scorching bassline. Hard.

'Zealous' opens amidst sci-fi atmospherics, touches of synth and percussion swirling around one another. This being Tantrum Desire at the controls, this ride could be taking us anywhere, and the destination doesn't disappoint. Dropping us into the borderlands between sub-genres, the pulsing, insistent bass and toughened-steel drums are going to grab DnB fans from all across the spectrum.

Finally, we have the eponymous 'Blue Moon'. Elegant pads, leading to one of Tantrum Desire's trademark huge builds, provide a hands-in-the-air moment that'll connect with crowds across festivals and raves alike. As the tune drops into snaking tendrils of bassline, there's a slick counterpoint with elements of melody shimmering and switching over the top. Big tune.

We've come to expect big things from Tantrum Desire every time, and this EP delivers as always. Here are four tracks precision-tooled for the dancefloor, technicality and musicality combined to deliver pure rave-hyping vibes.
