Perspective is an alias from Jimi Salami. He’s a seasoned DJ with a range influences from the styles of Madlib all the way to Drexciya peppering the sound of his uptempo experimental sets. Perspective’s mantra as a DJ isn’t about double dropping everything and it doesn’t matter about playing all of the newest dubs or releases either. It’s about lush selection with long build ups, dipping through softer flavours at a steady pace before lashing out with futuristic grooves of butchery with precise timing. 

You can catch him on rotation at events held at Nottingham’s Brickworks and as host on Radar Radio showcasing his new project focused on a Slow/Fast, Halftime dnb flex @telahbeats.

As a producer Perspective doesn’t reveal too much of his output, but 2017 saw his Yoruba heritage and weirdstepping, Halftime dnb influences take the shape of the Yemoja dub which received widespread support on renowned airwaves such as: Noisia Radio, the Hospital Records Podcast and Worldwide FM.

“This mix is a pretty self-centred snapshot of what I’m feeling and where I’m at sonically right now. It was put together on Ableton so I could drift through tempos easily and experiment with a few little surprises here and there - so listen out for them. It’s also got some obligatory unreleased stuff and vocal snippets from people and things close to me that inspire me, so I hope it speaks to you on some level too.”
