After releasing their critically acclaimed debut single ‘Stillstand’ on Local Suicide’s label Iptamenos Discos the Austrian duo Wiener Planquadrat are returning with their new ‘Dschungel’ EP which includes remixes by legendary electro-punk producer T.Raumschmiere, London-based infamous artist Birds and the uprising disco producer Tech Support.

The title track ‘Im Dschungel’ is a feel-good disco-pop / indie dance tune that speaks about the urban jungle of Vienna. The exuberant combination of arpeggio distortions, sizzling synths keys and jolly vocals transport listeners right in the middle of bubbly and chaotic Viennese jungle. 

The B-side ‘AIV’ (short for Alles ist Viel) is a dark disco hymn composed of polyphonic plucked synths, classic 80s beat, and distorted arp brassy sounds, while the vocals evoke the wilderness of a tangled and jumbled mind.

T.Raumschmiere, an artist of multiple facets ranging from punk techno to experimental ambient, maneuvers ‘Im Dschungel’ with abstract and minimalist tones. A steady remix with kick and bass at the forefront wrapped up with bright looping keys. 

Birds twists ‘Im Dschungel’ with an acid bassline, dark metallic strings, and adds mystical vocals showcasing her talent to merge multiple atmospheres into one track and always thrive for edginess and originality. 

‘AIV’ is revisited by London-based Tech Support, who gives it an all-around bouncy and elegant groove, harmoniously matched with spacey effects, bright bells, and screechy synths.

Wiener Planquadrat is formed by Maximilian Atteneder from Catastrophe & Cure and Michael Weiler, a former member of Luv Shack's Burning Tears. Their work is a union of their two musical background: a mixture of indie, dark disco, and a decent portion of French electro, reminiscing the times they first met. In 2021, they released their critically acclaimed debut single “Stillstand”, which went up onto the top 10 tracks of Austria’s most important youth radio station FM4, was highlighted as track of the day by Byte FM, received glowing reviews on the blogosphere and was described as the “perfect feel-good-disco-track” by German leading electronic print magazine FAZE, while receiving support by DJs such as Joris Voorn, John Digweed, Phunkadelica, Sean Johnston & Damon Jee among others.

The ‘Dschungel’ EP is an electrifying collection of tracks showcasing each artists' distinctive style and colourful palette of musical artistry. It will be released on a strictly limited clear Dubplate 12” and made available digitally on all platforms on April 22nd, 2022.

Glasgow's Auntie Flo marches into Multi Culti dance formation with Gods Of War, flanked by a deep, dope Von Party remix.

War, what is it good for? Dancing. That's it. Seriously. The rhythms of chaos, the clashing of forces, the rising of tensions, these are not merely the tropes of warfare, but the hallmarks of effective EDM. Goan via Scotland's Auntie Flo tackles the theme with a restrained fury, a potently tribal sonic ritual capable of inciting revolutionary dance moves. Add your own battle cries, this one is intense. It's one of the Highlife DJing, Huntleys & Palmers releasing producer's most aggressively charged tracks ever, and an exciting departure for a label mildly in danger of getting locked into the chill-out room.

The Goan yin to this Goan yang comes from label-honcho Von Party, who packs all of this raw aggro energy into his pipe and literally smokes it with his 'Peace Pipe Dub.' A paean to peaceful dance-floor tripping, where each dancer has the freedom to keep their head down, their heart up, and their feet stomping to the groove, subduing the enemy through internal vibing, rather than violence. The melodies are haunting, deep, and ravey, the whole thing laced with emotion, flirting with dissonance, and drenched in acid. 

Multi Culti grows one release wiser, tackling the heavy concepts, fighting for unity one beat at a time.

'Powering on from their successful year of releases, the Berlin-based duo Local Suicide have teamed up with Kalipo, the Bavarian producer whose downbeat, hazy tracks are renowned for their electric melancholy vibes.

Releasing on Hold Your Ground, a sublabel of Audiolith, that credits a wide range of countries and influences to bring them the best electronic sounds from around the world, allows for the diverse talent on the EP to take centre stage.

The two tracks Dominator and Crocodile ooze new wave nostalgia and confront us with the metaphorical vocals that reminisce in our experiences as humans. Dominator's syncopated kicks and synths march toward you like a band of dancers, while the sassy vocals inspire that feeling of rebellion and seduction. Crocodile is a much grizzlier track, with the synths resonance taking full effect on your ears as the succinct vocals chant to you like they are coming from within.

Mateo González - who the duo know well from collaborating with on previous projects such as last year's track Komm Ins Loch - has taken Dominator in his stride and given us 2 remixes from his ulterior aliases. The Theus Mago remix is a harrowing acid-trip take on the track; dipping its metaphorical toe into the dark and mysterious pool of techno that he approaches his remix's with. Keeping the vocals isolated and minimal, the track glitches into a world of its own interpreting and digesting its own melody and rhythm. Bufi's remix hits us with housey and disco claps and cowbells, bringing us into a bohemium jungle, full of exotic but intriguing ingredients that overcome all the senses.

The final remix on the EP is Saint Petersburg's Radial Gaze's take on Crocodile. The track, in a major key, incorporates laser synths that shoot out in every direction, while the manipulated voice that lures you into the climax of the track is met with ringing percussion; keeping those same grizzly kicks from the original track

A superb compilation of electronic and new wave sounds, intended to tempt each listener whatever their musical pleasures. The nostalgia-inducing project is set to be released on the 7th of February 2020, on Hold Your Ground.'
