The album was recorded over three nights in three different cities during my recent tour in Australia & New Zealand—Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland. The sets combined create a unique, seamless listening experience with no edits so all the grits is in there. Cool, right?

(RKT) Reptil Kumbia Trance is a psychedelic mixture of Latin elements (dembow rhythms, cumbia percussions), reptilian sound design, and trance-inducing textures. Synthetic sounds meet recorded instruments such as both acoustic and electric guitar, bass, kalimba, percussion, and field recordings. Each track is delivered at a different tempo, from dub to techno, blurring music genre frontiers into one same approach. Convinced that distortion and well-used dissonance are pillars of psychedelic music, he is a real aficionado of "almost out of tune" melodies and off-grid beat components. Always looking for a non-linear approach to repetitive music, this release is one of his closest attempts to give life to music originally perceived as synthetic.

Rain Dub : a dubby piece of breaky downtempo, full of delay FX, guitar harmonics and kalimba flavors recalling a wet rainy day.

Agua KT : a fast track incorporating dembow and ternary rhythms into an electric guitar-loaded horse ride across the Mexican desert.

Kumbia Orgasmika : A simple recipe : create a reggaeton beat, record some cumbia spice to warm it up, have fun with orgasmic ASMR and twist the whole thing with dub FX.

Brocéliande : enter the mythical forest of Bretagne and enjoy your encounter with elves, korigans and playful druids who will teach you how trance is reachable : contrast, chiaroscuro, shifting colors and dreamy soundscapes.

Coming in from Messina once again – OP:OP return with their latest sonic exploration: the MUNDI EP.
Rooted in the cultural mosaic of the Mediterranean, Andrea & Alessio channel their surroundings into sound. From the sandstone glow of Sicilian streets to the echoes of ancient empires, MUNDI is a tribute to a world where borders blur and rhythms travel. Driven by hypnotic ethno-dub grooves and analog warmth (say hello to Moog & Juno), OP:OP dive into earthy textures with cabasa, tight stomps and a variety of percussive elements. Their palette also includes electric guitar by Francesco Frudà and vocal fragments that drift like memories.
On the hypnotic title track, OP:OP map a pre-colonial landscape, a place where ancient stories whisper beneath modern machines. “Do You Follow Barà?” strikes with Afrobeat rhythms and horns, paying homage to the royal dances of West Africa and the legacy of Fela Kuti. On “Mesogeios” (Greek for Mediterranean), you’ll drift between the shores of Crete and the Libyan Sea. “Tricky” navigates the inner terrain of fragile emotions, featuring raw, revealing chants by Billy Prince Brown.

My original intent was to build a bouncy beat in contrast to the slower, melodic, beats built to specific (typically thoughtful) lyrics that I normally end up with.

Along the way I was challenged to add in a complete beatswitch that changes the mood: Everything but the BPM had to be different, and introduce a very distinctive emotional switch.  

Part I features some very aggressive downright filthy sound selection carried by a reesy synth layered in 3 different octaves, over a bouncy beat topped with a little garnish ... Part II is a pop-style base beat with piano, strings and plucks and some surprises that gives room to play with the emotional spectrum.

It could basically be two seperate releases, and maybe it will be some day - we'll see.

It was the opening of one of the outerworldly main floors (Speziale) with a serious crowd of ravers eager to kick start into the weekend… heavy wind, raining cats and dogs, the dj laying over the equipment to save it, people violently dance-stomping barefeet in the splashing mud while having their heads up in the sky embracing the apocalypse in a mesmerizing blade runner scenario - just to be followed by a soothing sunset, - sweetest moments...
