A longtime devotee of Classic House, raw grooves, and the swung rhythms of UK Minimal, Dutch artist Nigel Hey has been refining his sound in the studio and behind the decks. A seasoned songwriter with credits on major productions, including Rauw Alejandro’s global hit ‘El Efecto’, which has amassed over 700 million streams, Nigel has honed a solid foundation for his artistic journey. Straight from the heart of Amsterdam’s vibrant club scene, PIV founder Prunk and RED 87 offer up a first-time collaboration with their ‘Express EP’, landing 23rd May. Featuring three original cuts and a remix from UK duo RUZE, the release captures the duo’s shared passion for soulful house grooves—delivered just in time for summer. 

Opening with the title track, ‘Express’ brings together lush synth pads, simmering hi-hats, and echoed vocal snippets, crafting a warm, hypnotic energy that reflects the pair’s signature sound. RUZE steps in to reimagine the original with a sun-soaked, transportive flair, adding vibrant textures and an irresistible late-night feel. On ‘Listen’, Prunk and RED 87 showcase their knack for stripped-back club music, layering rippling melodies and tight, luscious percussion built for both the dancefloor and the afters. Closing cut ‘Break It Down’ tips its hat to classic Hot Creations energy—funk-laced, percussive, and oozing with charm, it wraps up the EP with a high-octane flourish.

Herb Rhythm has long been kicking out brilliantly garage and house sounds and now he is back with something a little deeper on GLBDOM Classic. 'True' is a smooth and soulful garage house sound, but it's not overly produced - there are still some nice frayed edges to the drums while the vocal is an r&b gem. It comes in various mixes from bumping for the club to more cut-up and 2-step from Ease Up George. On the flip is the fresh dub garage delight 'So Many' with plenty of nostalgic throwbacks and liquid chords, then 'You Can Do It' closes with a more direct sound but still plenty of warming pads. A mighty useful EP, for sure.
