This week's Far Blue concept is crafted by the four friends of the UK-based collective and record label, Simpler Times. This one has been long in the making, and the final result is a truly special mix.

‘Reflections Of Things To Come’ is a carefully crafted hour long journey that showcases Simpler Times take on the Far Blue concept. It is inspired by the idea of reflecting on the past while dreaming of the future.

‘We wanted to do something special for this mix, so we decided to record a set made up of unreleased Simpler Times music. We’ve included some older unreleased stuff that has never seen the light of day before alongside some brand new music we produced especially for the mix. We wanted to combine the old with the new to mirror the concept of the mix.’

A Far Blue concept by Simpler Times - 'Reflections Of Things To Come'

Quadrant Soundscape are Tommy Harrison and Wilson Logan from Manchester. Together, they are the minds behind the Dub Explorations Radio Show. They also run a series of live events at the famous Eastern Bloc Records, with notable guest appearances from Ohm, Kvadrant, El Choop, Andy Green, Mike Shommer.

The Dub Explorations Radio Show itself has well surpassed 110 shows, all 3 hours in length which is an insight into the dedication they have for hunting underground music to showcase and push forward - [www.soundcloud.com/quadrantsoundscape/sets/dub-explorations]

They have also expanded their musical output which now includes “The Quadrasphere“ series where artists are invited to show a different musical side of themselves from what you might expect, as well as the soon to launch Frontier Series where they will have world rebounded artists showcasing their sound. 

Over the last 8 years, the boys have featured on many podcasts across the globe, where their creative style of playing Ambient, Dub Techno, Minimal and Detroit Techno on 4 decks, while incorporating live samples is always well received. This has also led to them being invited to play many gigs in Manchester, London and Berlin.

Individually, Tommy produces music as Asphalt Layer. His deep, electronic and dubby sound being heard on multiple record labels worldwide. Incorporating analog machines and field recordings to generate the many noises he uses in his productions, along with that 90's Jungle influence, his sound is very recognisable.

And Wilson has begun a new alias, Scavenger, where he dives deep into the murky, experimental and dark, trippy techno world to produce very unique mixes. This alias allows Wilson to experiment more with his records and sound, often performing in a dark room on 4 decks alone.

Ranges podcast 07 : Quadrant soundscape

Alastair is the man behind Lempuyang, a UK-based label established in 2021 and deeply focused on dub techno sounds.

Among other artists, Ranges co-founder Roberto aka Hydergine first made an appearance on LPY-03, as part of a split release with Steve O'Sullivan under his Bluetrain alias. Hydergine is due to feature again this November on lempuyang's 3rd year anniversary compilation, alongside some seriously heavyweight names in the deep/dub techno realm. 

Lempuyang and Ranges labels are quite related in their sound palette. Testament to Roberto & Alastair's shared tastes, no less than 11 different artists have released material through both Ranges & Lempuyang.
