Especial and Giraffi Dog return with 2nd part of their concept EPs of live / studio collaboration.  Digging deep they present Multiverse (Infinite 2), bringing their live showcase to vinyl – the completion of the duality of your innerspace, now unconstrained for outerspace.

The forced hiatus to their live experience hopefully over, the final EP comes in two parts, a real-time live recording, followed by more studio reimagining to close.  To start, 6th Chakra is pure Giraffi Dog.  Featuring Doom Chakra Tapes founder, DJ Deflektorschild, this rough and spacey opener is a breaks-mantra, the third eye open, Ajna flowing intuition, realisation and imagination. Recorded live at the Warning Festival 2022, promoters and label compadres offered the perfect platform to showcase the Dog’s energy as the meeting of MPCs, drum machines, synth, loops, FX and more morphs to present the mind-modulating King OTN as the party set peaks.  

Again cut as a continuous mix, Anagh lifts to DX Metero.  Floating, spinning, ethereal, before piano introduces Starfather, the skyward ending.  Hopeful, melancholy - bywords of Especial on it’s meandering journey.  A long time due but worth the wait, Giraffi Dog beamed live and direct, watch those stars.

The clouds rolled on softly by. One by one they came and went across the deep blue sky, passing by in a forward motion only to disappear some place beyond the horizon and out of sight. It was one of those lazy, dreamy afternoons in the city when time seemed to stand still and nobody had any place particular to be.

The sound of traffic was only rivalled by the noises of the birds. On days like this it was enough to forget that there might ever be a problem again, days like this were made for dreaming.

Following up on the runaway success of his Dream The Dream compilation, Richard Sen returns with a dance floor focussed interpretation of Mind Over Rhythm - Kubital Footstorm.  In his own words: “This is a progressive breakbeat version and I tried to keep the original 90s vibe to it, but add my own personality. Because there were no separate parts available to use, I had to take samples of audio from the finished original. I added my own synth sounds and drums so it became a proper remix, rather than just edits.”
Dropping just in time for festival season, this dance floor stomper is undoubtedly going too soundtrack the summer!

The tension in the air was wild – some could barely contain their excitement at the thought of such exuberance. The big day was finally here and soon they would all come together to dance and celebrate in the streets as one community.

For some this would be the latest in a long series of extravagant parades yet for others this would be their first carnival.  Soon they’d be greeted with a splendid array of colours and songs the likes they’d never seen or heard before.

The heat beamed down from above for it was the height of summer. It was jam hot.

They’d dance all night long as the sound of trumpets began to echo in the distance as the march began.

Gratts is set to release a new EP on Be Strong Be Free. It features a brilliant cosmic balearic remix from Conrad, half of the magical duo Idjut Boys.

‘It’s Not That Deep’ is the second release from Manchester producer Tom Sharkett via Optimo Music. Following up on last year’s ‘Futuro EP’, the inspiration behind this latest release was the wonky, warped and psychedelic moments on the dancefloor that shift the night into a different realm without you even realising. The time of a night where you become utterly transfixed until you’re reminded where you are with a sudden pang of energy from music and lights that signifies you’ve tipped over the precipice into the darker phase of the evening. It was experiences like this that led to the hazy Sunday morning studio sessions that formed the EP’s writing and recording from Sharkett’s home in Levenshulme, Manchester.

A-side, ‘Mechanical Love’, features a dark, icy vocal from close friend and collaborator, Emily Z, aka Modema, over a relentlessly throbbing SH-101 bassline. Emerging from a bed of spitting Juno saw-waves, rhythmic guitars, rolling toms and self oscillating space echo swirls, Modema’s vocal is the eerie guiding hand that leads you into the dark depths of the dancefloor. Much like Sharkett’s previous productions, the structure is purposefully loose and was recorded live instrumentally to capture a sense of unpredictability as the harsh, worn and distorted sounds come and go throughout. B-side, ‘It’s 5am Somewhere’ captures late night tension and release to ease you towards the reflective and transcendent closing chapter of the EP. Fractured and disjointed drones build together to snap into an assertive combination of acoustic drum samples and a mechanical bass line that nod towards Tom’s EBM and Dark Italo influences. An organic plucked synth line leads the melodic charge in this instrumental track, whilst rhythmic modular sounds flicker around the outside, in and out of focus.

Final co-production and mixing comes from long-time collaborator Matt Peel, who Sharkett has worked with on both W. H. Lung’s (his band) records to date. The pair spent two days at the Nave recording studio in Leeds running the mixes through Peel’s collection of tape echos and outboard equipment, to give a finishing touch of abrasiveness and harshness that reflects their punk approach to making dance music.

JIN enters autumn with a familiar yet evolving sound. For our eighth release (JIN08), we are delighted to have Tokyo's house wizard, Gonno, make his long-awaited return to JIN with a full EP, after the still talked about JIN01 quintessential remix of Initials B.B.'s "Paradise Patterns".

For this release, Gonno delivers 3 astonishing tracks. A1 features Gonno’s trademark melodic house bomb. B1 is an instantly mind-blowing IDM 2-1-2 floor shaker. Then for B2, he brilliantly closes out the EP with a floating ambient tune.

Rounding out this release on A2 is Gonno's dear friend from Paris, synth specialist Voiski, with a 4/4 remix that takes you on a uniquely classy trip.

PREMIERE: Empress of Nature & t-woc - Rapper's Delight [Strangelove]

Not An Animal is a label that was born from the party debris left uncleaned from London’s infamous Bad Passion parties, run by Chris Stoker and Andy Bainbridge. The leftfield imprint’s next release comes from label co-pilot Andy Bainbridge himself, who has been DJing for over 25 years, and as an integral part of the Bad Passion crew together with Stoker, they ran their infamous parties in the East corner of London. Andy Bainbridge has DJ’d extensively throughout Europe and is a mainstay at festivals like Houghton and Love International. His music production includes making tracks as part of Machete Savane, Latrec and A.M Edits, with releases on Felix Dickinson's Cynic, Futureboogie and Is It Balearic. 
 
For his debut solo release on Not An Animal, Andy Bainbridge serves up a raw, late-night house dub, accompanied by sizzling remixes from Donaldʼs House and Komodo for good measure. ‘Up Too Much’ starts simply evoking house classics of old. Dubby percussion sets the genre, the Buchla synth wobbles that form the tracks melody are delicately peppered with acid sprinkles and a vocal garnish bringing the track squarely into the modern day to form a tough yet gentle roller.  Next off the pass is the Donaldʼs House remix, finely weaving the essence of the original mix into a proggy sidewinder, highlighting the acid arps previously lurking in the background and slowly melting the track into a delicious trancey mess. Closing out, Komodo kicks off in a classic Chicago style; claps, stabs and all, with vocal samples adding that extra texture for that knockout punch.
