Candy Kingdom Synth Orchestra's new single 'The Star's Leap At Night' offers more utopian visions for dance music and includes remixes from Lauer and Vitling.
Candy Kingdom Synth Orchestra is Berlin-based, Jerusalem-born Uri Yacobi Keller. He has been in the German capital for almost a decade playing in clubs such as Griessmuehle and About Blank. The data scientist has a long-standing love of house, techno and drum & bass as well as a passion for sci-fi that infuses his music.
His fantastic 'The Star’s Leap At Night' is a driving and pulsing electronic house track with starry-eyed keys and neon chords. The yearning vocals imbue it with passion and meaning as the bubbling arps soar into the cosmos. The synth version strips away the vocals to allow those well-programmed chords more room to shine.

Following hot on the heels of his recent mini-album for Elephant Gait, Italian producer Joseph Tagliabue is back with a full-length album for Invisible, Inc.

With Un' Altra Forma Di Vibrazioni Tagliabue continues to expand on the cosmic foundations laid by such pioneering experimental forefathers as Franco Battiato whose ground-breaking ambient, abstract experiments made waves in the '70s, Klaus Schulze whose legendary Innovative Communications label birthed the “Berlin school” sound in the early '80s, then tracing a path toward later luminaries like Boards of Canada and Plaid. There's a very personal, emotive, even ethereal quality also present here conjuring feelings of 4AD's glory years and the likes of This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance.

However, backwards-looking music this is not. It's fair to say the Milan-based producer is developing his very own distinct sound as he matures from one release to the next and regardless of his wide range of influences, it's his firm grasp of sound design and current developments in audio engineering that takes this album far beyond the realm of just “electronica” or “psychedelia” and plants it firmly into a distinctly forward-looking contemporary space of its very own, that's as much music for the heart as it is music for the head. 

It's this emotive quality that makes the album feel like a departure in sound from what the label has been doing until now so it seemed appropriate to create a sub-series for this release - and thus Black Inc. was born.

Tagliabue provides some insight into the release's creation: “Un' Altra Forma Di Vibrazioni (meaning Another Form Of Vibration in Italian) is a concept album inspired by one of the most sensational scientific discoveries of recent years, namely evidence of the existence of the "Cosmic Web". The album is comprised of ten tracks, each linked to one another, much like the various forms of matter in the cosmic web, and whose meaning can only be understood by listening to them as a collective whole: the album therefore is a well constructed sonic experience fusing elements of ambient, psych, rock, experimental and trance. Designed to be listened to continuously from start to finish, the album's journey through the universal elements is reflected in each track, whose rhythms resonate in harmony with the phenomena they represent, whilst a backdrop of drones and mesmeric grooves contribute to an atmosphere of otherworldly mechanical oneirism."

Following up on the runaway success of his Dream The Dream compilation, Richard Sen returns with three dance floor focussed interpretations of tracks from the record. 

In his own words: “With the remixes, I took 3 quite different styled tracks, UVX (trance), Bandulu (percussive ambient) and Mind Over Rhythm (progressive breakbeat) and tried to keep the original 90s vibe to them but add my own personality. 

Because there were no separate parts available to use, I had to take samples of audio from the finished originals. I added my own synth sounds and drums where necessary so they became remixes, rather than just edits.”

Dropping just in time for festival season, these variations are undoubtedly going too sound track the summer!

Alek Lee is back on Antinote to release his debut LP ‘You’. Covering 18 songs and crafted in the producer’s studio over the past few 4 years, the Tel Avivian has swapped the misty aura of his first two EPs for a smoked out haze. ‘You’ effortlessly blends digi-dub, boogie, and yacht rock to
create a washed out, dub-pop sound befitting of its place of recording sat at the edge of the desert and the sea.
If Lee’s earlier works were defined by brooding downtempo beats with kids television vocal samples sprinkled amongst them, then the album hears the producer open himself up to the process of the singer-songwriter, getting behind the microphone and optimistically speaking
words of his own. But perhaps that may be put too bluntly. Fankly, Lee fluidly moves between crooning, whispers, gasps all the way to full on ballad style singing effortlessly and with ease. His newly develop vocal experiments are too supported by an impressive array of collaborators which can be found in the LP’s liner notes. These collaborations also help to mix far-flung musical styles into the LP. For instance, take Kol Hayom featuring Keren Ilan. It’s a laid-back tune that would sit comfortably beside Rita Lee tropicália. Or Love To Puff You Baby featuring $hkuro, which upends Donna Summer’s bodily groove into a heady bop.
‘You’ is a testament to Alek Lee’s prolific exploration of his own brand of dub: shimmering off-beat guitars, low-fidelity beats and deep grooves. Oh and always a melodica line found somewhere amongst it.

Lurid Music welcomes Fabio Me Llaman Soltero from Guatemala. This eccentric multifaceted producer, co-founder of the Sonido Moderna collective and the Azul Rosa beach club in Lago De Atitlán, in southwestern Guatemala, has always been known for his insatiable search for a particular sound with the experimentation of various genres. Labeling with a musical genre what it produces, in its own words, is "boring, and music, like life, must be free, because the rhythms are there to be used in the best way for us." Anatolian Weapons comes in to give an argan oil rub to the lead-off track, coming up with an acid desert classic. Vinyl to come out in early 2021.
