Raphaël Didjaman is the pioneer didgeridoo player in France. He first started as a saxophone player, and DJ by the follow...

One day, he left it all to head to Australia. There, on those original lands, he discovered the Didgeriddoo. Sensitive to the aboriginal rites, he felt that this instrument would change his life…That was in 1995. He spent one year in Australia, in the outback, learning constantly, following the advice of players of great renown. In Alice Springs, he met Andrew Langford, David Hudson and Ash Dargan. That experience will have been decisive and will have made him make up his mind to become a professional.

Since then, every year, he goes back to Australia, improves his art more and more, painstakingly, and collects the precious eucalyptus woods that he works then in his shop so as to turn them into genuine didgeridoos. With the respect of each piece of wood, he works so as to emphasise their acoustic features, making their sound more tough, more dynamicand smooth. Thus the material vibrates, without being distorted, ever. Today, Raphaël Didjaman has become an expert player and a skilful craftsman, for the greatest pleasure of all didgeridoo fans. 

To date, he has realised a music discography with 6 musical albums and an educational DVD didgeridoo, available on Itunes, Deezer, Spotify and others.

On the cinema side, he collaborate with the composer BRUNO COULAIS for the movie "Winged Migration" of JACQUES PERRIN and the other famous french composer PHILIPPE SARDE, in the movie "QUAI D'ORSAY" of BERTRAND TAVERNIER. And compose some advertising musics for NINTENDO, KIA, RENAULT etc.

Le saviez vous ? 

Raphaël Didjaman, d’abord saxophoniste, a tout plaqué un jour pour partir en Australie. Sur ces terres originelles, il a découvert le didgeridoo. A l‘écoute de rites aborigènes, il a senti que cet instrument serait au cœur de tous les changements que connaîtrait sa vie… C‘était en 1995.

Il passe un an en Australie, dans l’outback, apprenant sans cesse, suivant les conseils de joueurs de grandes renommées. Puis il rencontre, à Alice Springs, Andrew LANGFORD. Cette expérience sera décisive et le décidera à se professionnaliser.

Depuis, chaque année, il se rend en Australie, se perfectionne avec toujours plus de rigueur, et recueille les précieux bois d’eucalyptus qu’il travaillera ensuite dans son atelier pour en faire d’authentiques didgeridoos.
Respectant chaque bois, il les travaille de sorte à en accentuer les caractéristiques acoustiques, à rendre le son plus pur, plus tonique, plus suave et à faire vibrer la matière sans jamais la dénaturer.

Fort d'une discographie de 6 albums et d'un DVD pédagogique, Raphaël est devenu un joueur expérimenté et un artisan-luthier reconnu pour le bonheur de tous les passionnés de didgeridoo.

Côté cinéma, il collabore avec Bruno Coulais, dans "Le Peuple Migrateur" de Jacques Perrin,  et  Philippe Sarde, dans "Quai d'Orsay" de Bertrand Tavernier. Puis compose des musiques de publicité pour NINTENDO, KIA, RENAULT etc.

Since 2002 and his first contact with french techno and electro cultures, 
Alexandre became one with this underground part of culture and took part to these movement. 
Member of Grenoble’s underground culture, he began to arrange in 2003, under the name Kalifer.
In 2009 are published two albums by Aka records then Alexandre , 
thirsty for listening to other music than his own 
start to concacrate fully is time to Djing .
In 2012, he integrated as the collective “Les Rythmes Actuels” with this uptempo project with psyprog, psytrance or progressive techno.
In 2016, Alexandre aka Kalifer with his second project "Soleye" 
integrate the chill area in Hadra Records.
