Ouvertüre is a minimalist solo piano piece that opens the album Places. Composed in A-flat major / F minor, it sets a gently melancholic tone that invites listeners into the sonic journey of the album, introducing its atmosphere with clarity and emotional subtlety.

Eimsbüttel is a solo piano piece in F minor that captures the turbulent yet curious rhythm of daily life in Hamburg’s vibrant Eimsbüttel district. Its musical narrative shifts between stumbling, restless motifs and moments of quiet wonder, reflecting a neighborhood where chaos and charm coexist. Through dynamic contrasts and fluid harmonic turns, the piece portrays a new routine that may waver, but always moves forward with curiosity and warmth.

Eimsbüttel

Johanneskirchen is a solo piano waltz set in Munich’s Johanneskirchen district of Bogenhausen in 2011. Centered primarily in C major, the piece carries a quiet melancholy beneath its bright surface, shaped by subtle inflections of C minor that momentarily darken the harmony before returning to major. Its gently revolving waltz rhythm evokes a sense of continuous movement and unfolding process, beginning from a distant point and gradually drawing closer. Through this interplay of light and shadow, the music reflects a journey marked by reflection, transition, and the soft persistence of forward motion.
