EYX018 brings Scalymoth's debut EP, the two-tracker titled "Lush / Humble Rumble” marks a new milestone in the rapidly rising career of the DJ from Brisbane (Australia).

Scalymoth, has emerged as rising talent in the electronic music world, quietly making waves with her unique sound and innovative production techniques. Drawing inspiration from diverse experiences and the vibrant
energy of different locales, the Australian producer’s music is a blend of i intricate production, atmospheric textures, and powerful beats.

The EP offers two contrasting yet complementary tracks that highlight his versatile production skills and deep understanding of the dancefloor. "Lush" opens the EP with a cascade of ethereal textures that transport listeners into a dreamlike state. The track's layered synths and gentle beats create an atmosphere of tranquility and introspection, making it perfect for both chilled-out listening sessions and early morning festival sets. In stark contrast, "Humble Rumble" brings the energy up with a pulsating bassline and fierce beats that are sure to ignite dancefloors. The track is a testament to Scalymoth's prowess in creating high-energy, bassheavy anthems that resonate with electronic music enthusiasts.

The release of "Lush / Humble Rumble" is accompanied by a series of live performances and DJ sets across Brisbane and other major Australian cities. Fans can expect an unforgettable experience as Scalymoth brings his unique sound to the stage, blending live instrumentation with electronic elements.

Ultimately “Lush / Humble Rumble” explores the duality of sound and emotion of Scalymoth’s music, while ’Lush' captures the serene, introspective side of my production, 'Humble Rumble' is all about raw energy and movement.

“This debut EP is the culmination of a few years of making, listening and learning. It is designed to make you move in whichever way and wherever makes you feel comfortable. All tracks were created on drum machines,
inspired by random occurrences over the last year. I'm also excited I got to weave in some field recordings I took in India.

In the bustling world of instrumental grime, Mr. Mitch’s ‘Peace Dub’ phenomenon - initially a concept aimed squarely at flipping grime’s ‘war dub’ complex on it’s head - has fast become a reputable sub-genre all of it’s own. With a series of his own peace edits garnering plenty of recognition online over the course of 2014, Mitch has enlisted a trio of new-school producers to assist him in re-contextualising four unconventional classics and with it, christen a new series of peace-themed white label 12”s.

Simply titled PEACE001, Mitch is joined by Gobstopper signees Strict Face and Loom, as well as elusive beat-making trio Silk Road Assassins on the label’s first ever physical record - a body of work that takes instrumental grime even further into unchartered territory. Kicking off with the brooding heartache of Mitch’s fuzzy, emotionally charged re-rub of Dru Hill’s ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, there’s also space for Strict Face to turn an icier, washed-out hand to the peace aesthetic on ‘Alice’ - his beautifully mellow, minimalist rework of Alice Deejay classic ‘Better Off Alone’.

Latest signee Loom opts to take a deconstructionist route through Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ as glitchy melodies, ushered reverb and pitched-up vocal loops meet harsh, industrial sampling in unerringly dystopian collision of ideas, whilst Silk Road Assassins sign off with their take on T-Pain’s ‘Im Sprung’. Trickling, iced-out melodies and pitched-down vocals are laid over dark, menacing bass rumbles in a tribute to the sound that has already earmarked the trio as refreshingly slick sound designers. - Tomas Fraser
