Memories Of A Metaphysical Moment

Bounty mutineer descendant and Norfolk Island native Nate Rae is Byron Bay’s most explosive undiscovered hidden treasure. After years of immersing himself in the vibrant local music culture whilst perfecting his art form, Nate is now prepared to unveil his eclectic productions to the world.

Migrating across the Pacific to pursue his passion for music and washing ashore in Byron Bay in early 2015, Nate swiftly involved and integrated himself in the local music scene. Here he enrolled to study electronic music production, which in turn opened up the doors to the industry, leading to Nate collaborating with several local collectives, in several different roles such as, stage tech, audio engineer and visual projectionist. This culmination of industry experience added fuel to an already simmering flame, influencing his sound and inspiring him to create.   

Nate’s multi coloured production pallet spans many corners of the electronic realm, from rolling tech house, dark minimal techno, all the way into the luscious plains of liquid drum and bass, halftime and glitch. Groove focused, with an emphasis on narrative and progression, Nate’s prime goal is for heads to nod and feet to shuffle. 
Nate’s four to the floor rhythms are greatly influenced by the likes of Mihai Popoviciu, Markus Homm, James Dexter, & Rodriguez Jr. Whilst simultaneously drawing huge inspiration from the work of Calibre, Future Engineers, Spectrasoul and LTJ Bukem. His fortunate surroundings, industry work and time spent at the doof have yielded him collaboration opportunities with the world class musicians of the region including Sali Bracewell, Tashmeen, Skyeater and Ole Falco. 
After years of patiently honing his skills, pioneering his own unique sound and polishing his productions, Nate recently came under the Round Town banner and with releases at the ready, is currently navigating the best way to submerge the world in a tsunami of his sounds with international intentions.

Heute hab ich die zwei jungen Züricher Till & Mo für euch ausgekramt. Sie bilden seit nunmehr 5 Jahren das DJ-Duo SENTIMENT und sind bereits fester Bestandteil der Züricher Elektro-Szene. 

Sie bespielen nicht nur die fabelhaften Clubs wie Kauz, Hive, Zukunft oder die legändere Friedas Büxe, sondern haben sich vorallem durch ihre Partyreihe “Miras” einen Namen gemacht. “Miras” sind Parties in Offlocation mit dem Ziel einen Pop-Up-Club mit einzigartiger Deko, Musik und Stimmung für eine einzige Nacht zu kreieren – respekt für die große Mühe. 

Außerdem haben sie erst letzte Woche das Muyal Festival veranstaltet, ein Benefizfestivals zu Gunsten zweier Hilfsorganisationen für Nepal und Simbabwe. Feiern für einen guten Zweck … find ich super <3

Mir sind die beiden vor allem durch ihren hervorragenden Podcast für unsere Freunde von “Das hätte es Früher nicht gegeben” aufgefallen. Mich begeistert bei ihrer Musik zum einen der Indie-Pop Einfluß der 80er Jahre und die fantastische Wandlungsfähigkeit. 

So nun genug gequatsch … Ohren auf für SENTIMENT …

Horcht, was tönt von oben her? Im Dezember die Glocken nie süßer klingen, das mag wohl in der Advents- und Weihnachtszeit so stimmen. Auch in des Kranich seinem Nest, erklingen besinnliche Melodien zum Fest. Es sind jedoch nicht Engelein die da singen und uns den neusten Podcast vom Himmel hernieder bringen. Die wohl selektierten und ineinander gemischten Lieder unseres neuen Mixes entstammen der Plattensammlung eines guten Freundes und wohlgeschätzten Weggefährten, Ilo Pan. Mit Dusty Ballroom, einer Party-Serie seit 2008, präsentiert er zusammen mit Elmo Lewis und Der Staubfinger bei uns auf dem Dach Tanzmusik aus den Hochzeiten der Vinyl-Ära (50 - 70er) und mitunter sogar noch älteres Material aus den 20er, 30er und 40er Jahren. In seinem Mix werden wie bei den Ballroom Sessions die unterschiedlichsten Register von Charleston und Swing über Rhythm'n'Blues, Rock'n'Roll, Rockabilly, Surf, Ska, Rocksteady und Calypso bis hin zu 60s Soul, Garage, Psychedelic Rock und Early 70s Funk gezogen, gekonnt abgemischt und heiss serviert! Und so mögen die Glocken süßer klingen, Ilo Pan bringt euch jedoch zum swingen. Doch jetzt die Lauscher auf, die Anlage laut, weil Musik so muss! DANKE Ilo!
