This October, Southern Lord will release Poison Everything, the debut full-length from Southern California’s unhinged punk/hardcore outfit, OBLITERATIONS.

Comprised of current and ex-members of Black Mountain, Saviours and Night Horse, OBLITERATIONS delivers a blazing blend of Poison Idea, Discharge, and Black Flag, set to a live show that willfully incites and encourages one’s aggressive tendencies to shine. A day after returning from their Southwest US Tour in March, the band recorded with producer Chris Owens (Lords, Coliseum, Young Widows) at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in only three days. Mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Black Breath) at God City Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Tragedy, Integrity, Sleep) at Audiosiege, the end result of Poison Everything is a thirteen-song, twenty-nine-minute record full of raw brutality, darkness and aggression, the album weaving its way through the annals of punk and hardcore, while still sounding fresh and vital.

The lead track “Mind Aint Right” is a two-minute blast harkening back to early ‘80s Japanese hardcore akin to Gauze, Lip Cream and GISM, whereas the scorcher, “Scapegoat,” walks a razor’s edge between d-beat Discharge influence and Swiss pioneers Celtic Frost, and “Shame,” which opens with a riff that lodges itself nicely between Spacemen 3 and The MC5. The band has always been very open to expressing their influences and inspiration by a bevy of diverse muses including Alan Watts, Laughing Hyenas, Blue Oyster Cult, The Stooges, Alice Cooper, Paul Bowles and Suicide. The blueprint isn’t the point here, it’s the results. The sound is abrasive and raw, driving and aggressive, and fully infectious. The cover artwork was crafted by renowned tattoo artist, Derrick Snodgrass.

OBLITERATIONS’ mission is simple a one; write, record, tour, and that’s just what they do.

Poison Everything will see worldwide release on Southern Lord, in North America October 28th and just one day earlier in Europe.

 Vancouver's Baptists share the first new track from their upcoming second album, Bloodmines, which is due for release via Southern Lord on 14th October.
  Arriving at the album's mid point, 'Harm Induction' is a volatile, high speed, turbo-charged rager. As the guitar riffs scale to an ear-splitting climax, the vocals also reach the peak of absolute seething anger. Harm Induction is unrelenting, near suffocating, and highly cathartic.

   Like it's predecessor, Bloodmines is a fast, exhilarating album of rage, oozing with genuine raw emotion and punk rock fury. Shards of feedback make way for fast powerful riffs and savage vocals, whilst explosive drumming pumps blood around the band's beating heart.

   On other album tracks like "Vistas", "Calling" and the title track, "Bloodmines", the pace changes, revealing powerful, almost anthemic, jagged noise rock songs (much like influential San Diego post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu) which go beyond the two minute mark. Discordant guitar melodies and abrasive vocal passages are elongated, still volatile but perhaps allowing for further contemplation of the band's underlying message.

Vancouver's BAPTISTS is preparing to release their second album, Bloodmines, the platter due for release via Southern Lord in North America on October 14th. Like its predecessor, BAPTISTS’ acclaimed Bushcraft debut LP, Bloodmines is an exhilarating album pouring with genuine, raw emotion and frenzied punk fury. Shards of feedback make way for rapid riffs and savage vocals, with explosive drumming surging life into every second of each movement. On tracks like "Vistas", "Calling" and the title track, "Bloodmines," the pace changes, revealing powerful, melodic and jagged noise rock songs, much like influential San Diego post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu, which go beyond the two minute mark. Discordant guitar melodies and abrasive vocal passages are elongated, still volatile but perhaps allowing for further contemplation of the band's underlying message.

BAPTISTS continue to find ways to express their rage and explore new turf with each release, and with Bloodmines they have created a memorable and commanding album. The album was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios as with Bushcraft. The cover art was designed by Jillian Mann.

BAPTISTS will take to the North American West Coast this October on a Southern Lord tour package also including labelmates Torch Runner and Obliterations for the entire trek, as well as Offenders on select dates. As part of the routing, BAPTISTS will take part in the massive Southern Lord showcase taking place in Los Angeles, California on October 15th alongside Goatsnake, The Offenders and Xibalba in addition to Torch Runner and Obliterations. All three bands will then raid Southwest Terror Fest III: The Western Front, set to take place October 16th-19th in Tucson, Arizona, where BAPTISTS are set to perform on the main stage the final evening of the gathering with SUNN O))), Obliterations and Sex Prisoner.

Rodion G.A. - Behind The Curtain - The Lost Album BBE290ACD / ADG [LP/ CD / Digital] out on 20.10.2014

The music on 'Behind The Curtain - The Lost Album' was feared missing since 1987. That was when Rodion turned his back on music, following the death of his mother. Then last year, when Rodion was looking through his workshop, he came across the master-tapes. When Rodion listened to the master-tapes, he discovered twenty-four tracks. This included the eleven tracks that make up The Lost Tapes. The music that makes up the main part of the album (Acvila Fragment, Charm 1, Charm 2, Contrast, Dans Macabru, Elastic, Piramide 1, Piramide 2, Point, The Gym, The Train and Waterfall) were recorded between 1980 & 1983. The bonus tracks were also on the master-tapes. Listening back to these tracks, they’re a snapshot of the most innovative electronic groups of the late-seventies and early-eighties.

What is clear is that 'Behind The Curtain - The Lost Album' will firmly cement the idea of a neglected genius, first intimated by The Lost Tapes, in the public view. Here at last is a complete set of music, as originally conceived by a figure who will surely take his place alongside the Enos, the Kraftwerks, the Gottschings, as a true pioneer of electronic music.

As always, the dejected and vengeful hymns TODAY IS THE DAY delivers with their latest opus are among the most scathing passages of audio one will experience, as Animal Mother unloads just short of a solid hour of pure anguish. The band’s lineup features the rhythm section of bassist Sean Conkling (Regression, Burn Your Halo, Sprawl) and drummer Jeff Lohrber (Enabler, ex-Harlots), fronted by cult leader, founding guitarist/vocalist Steve Austin. Through fifteen diversified attacks, Animal Mother’s wrath recalls elements of several seminal TITD albums, merging the dementia of Temple Of The Morning Star with the blazing delivery of In The Eyes Of God, yet several acoustic and more melodic angles elevate the LP’s material to entirely different dimensions. Pain and hate are blatantly abundant in Austin’s seething and venomous lyrical tirades and emotional outcries. The Animal Mother recording sessions took place at the notorious architect’s own Austin Enterprises in the deeply wooded Maine wilderness this brutal past Winter, the material fully produced and mastered by Austin. The cover art for Animal Mother was created by Samantha Muljat.

For two and-a-half decades, TODAY IS THE DAY has woven Steve Austin’s prophetic observations and noise-soaked chaos through a psychedelic, unique and unmatched battery of heavy styles. The outfit has spawned an incredible discography, forging their way to the forefront of Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse, Blackmarket Activities and many others. The band has toured with countless acts including Motörhead, Morbid Angel, Helmet, Neurosis, The Melvins, Napalm Death, Coalesce, Unsane and Eyehategod. Additionally, Steve Austin has produced nearly all of TITD’s releases, as well as groundbreaking albums for Lamb Of God, Converge, Deadguy and many others.
