Underground Rap not that Industry Crap full of Rapper Actors


Welcome! Thank you for tuning in! I have reached my following limit so I can't follow anybody back. I say this for those who do follow know I'm not ignoring them. I am music enthusiast first and fore most. I have been mixing music since 1996, small clubs and parties and such. I continued to mix but chose to stay a bedroom dj for some time after, doing a gig or 2 here and there along the way. I had to make a decision...do I commit or quit? So after much thought was given to the subject, I have, as of 2013 decided to pursue this passion I have for mixing and to fit it in my life. I am now moving into production of my own original material, though I still love to dj and play to the crowd. My musical tastes are various and include almost every type of genre there is. I myself started playing the piano and acoustic guitar and also was involved in school chorus at a younger age. I fell away from playing and into skateboarding, never losing my love for the music. I was struck by an automobile some years later and my ability to skate became limited, though I still continue to skate to this very day. I later fell into a lifestyle of the street, and not positive like my earlier years when I was involved in Hip-Hop and Punk Rock heavily. I landed in I guess what could be loosely called a gang, more of a street family of really great people. I ventured down a dark path and then like that was snatched up by the fates by a family in my home town and was introduced to a band called the Grateful Dead. Which I had heard of and listened to but never quite really captured the full scope of it a all until I was taken to a show in Charlotte NC,(Yes Jerry was still alive then),(Thanks Bernice!) and had an experience that has impacted me to this day. Then I fell back to the streets eventually and then was snatched up once again, this time by Bernice's daughter, Jenna. She took me to my first rave and I knew that it was for me. It changed my life, and way of thinking completely. A new way to live. I started spinning records for fun, with the idea of maybe one day being able to touch a life as mine was touched. I later, and sad to admit, fell into the dark side of the culture. My music, though I still had a love for it, suffered greatly. Years were spent really doing not much more than floating, merely existing and not really living. I happened upon a fellow who helped to raise me up again(Thanks Joe C.), and I again felt my purpose but was still on shaky ground. I eventually ran myself into the ground, and even though I had the support of friends, I chose to do for me and me only. They did get me back into the music,(Knight,Montez,Taylor,Paco,Marty and many more) but I did not heed my blessing and ended up with shallow 'friends' and a broken heart. I had met some really great people in the next city over and they invited me into their circle of dj's. Thanks Sketti! But all the while I was on the run from authorities for previous behaviors which eventually landed me in jail for almost 2 years. Now a free man, and with the accumulated knowledge from my previous experiences, I got right back into the music. It was calling me, and I answered. I, with a new attitude, have returned to finish what I started. The music was always in me, I just ignored the call. After all the time I had to think,I knew that this was the avenue for me! Time now to give back and share. To reach out and hopefully plant a positive seed in someone that will grow to be strong. The seed that was planted in me grew, struggling to reach maturity, it is now bearing fruit. So here and now I am going to continue to give back the goodness that was given to me! Through my music I will spread light and joy across the planet.     Rascal E. Rabbit born September 1979. Rascal’s musical influence began from birth, thanks to his father who was involved with hip hop and house music clubs. By the age of 3 he was playing guitar, bass, and drums. Over the next few years, Rascal developed an interest for DJ’ing through seeing DJ’s at after-hours parties his father hosted in their home in Woodbridge, Virginia. His father blessed him on his 7th birthday in 1986 with a set of Technics turntables, and a simple Numark DJ mixer, along with a mixture of house and hip hop records, and that was the path that Rascal would take from that point forward. Through constant practice, a consistent supply of new records, and a supportive family, he was quite the showman, and by age 11 was playing block parties and house parties. He was always particularly fond of house music, and was going to clubs with his father starting in 1992, and by the time he graduated high school in 1997 he was playing out at raves and was slotted a few times at the notorious weekly “BUZZ” held at The Capital Ballroom in D.C. as well as a promoting and DJ residency with M3 productions in D.C. 
    After High school Rascal went to college at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona to play golf and study music. During his time in college he got linked up with several crews around both the Phoenix, and Tucson areas and was playing many regional rave events throughout Arizona, and California, and started getting some international attention. In 1998, he was asked to play the Love Parade in Germany. This was the biggest moment in his life at that age. “It was absolutely nuts! I was extremely lucky to play at Love Parade. What 18 year old gets to play for 3 million people?!” he said when asked about the experience. 
    Rascal continued playing raves around the United States, many areas of Mexico during Spring Breaks, and held residencies at “Empire” a club in Ybor City, Florida, and of course all of the parties he was involved in promoting for in DC when he was home for the summer, and on the west coast during school. In 2002 Rascal became a proud father to a little girl, and decided it was time for a break, but 4 years later he was out playing again. 
    In 2006 Rascal started playing out again with a few events here and there in some of his favorite cities, Chicago, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Tampa, and of course, D.C. but he wanted to do something more, he felt unfulfilled, and decided to start a management agency in 2007 in order to help his friends get heard. “One Nation Under Groove” or “1NUG” as Rascal so passionately calls it, was born. Event hosting was the way he found best to get exposure for himself and friends. He has hosted, or collaborated with other crews all over the country to do so. “A Midwinter Night’s Rage” in D.C./Md area, “Pokeball” in Pittsburgh, and “Space Camp/ EDM USA” just outside of chicago are just a few.
    Rascal has seen great success due to his efforts with 1NUG, and the help of his friends. He recently moved to Austin, Tx in March 2014. With the recent affiliation with Oh Bleep, Rascal is quickly building an even bigger reputation and following for hosting events, as well as DJing. Rascal has big things in store for 2014, playing the festival circuit, as well as Production of weekly, and monthly events in NYC, Austin Tx, and soon in Knoxville Tn, and Richmond Va. 
    Rascal E. Rabbit has shared the stage with acts like ATB, Little Louie Vega, BT, Metaphysical, DJ Paul C, DJ Funk, Frankie Knuckles, and many more. He proudly represents the following crews/labels: One Nation Under Groove, 1NUG Rekkids, Nu Skool Pirates,The Universal Zulu Nation, Distorted Media Entertainment, and Oh Bleep!
