One of the main goals of the album was to capture that live feeling. Rasha recorded together with her band in the same room, with some songs coming together in just one take. The recording bristles with unfixed, dynamic, performative, raw qualities. Guitars floating suspended in the air, strings howling, playfully woven between the different contours of rock and profound storytelling. Between distorted allegories and picturesque panoramas wrapped in lucid lyrics.

Still Healing

Palestinian singer, composer and instrumentalist Rasha Nahas has a distinctive approach to songwriting, storytelling and performance. As a genre-defying, narrative-focused artist, Rasha Nahas has been crafting a keenly singular music universe, cultivated in and loyal to the underground. Driven by candid lyrics with disarming vulnerability, Rasha has created a sound that moves seamlessly between the resonances of the old school rock ‘n’ roll singer-songwriter era, and the anarchic heyday of ‘80s electronica.
 
Rasha’s critically acclaimed debut album, Desert chronicled her journey from Haifa to Berlin. It was featured by BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends and the Spotify-produced podcast, Spotify:Mic Check. Her upcoming two-chapter LP, 'Amrat', is due for release in January 2023, with tours scheduled across Europe and West Asia. Rasha's first foray into Arabic-language lyrics, ‘Amrat’, is a sentimental body of work, maneuvering seamlessly between the thematic duality of urban and rural landscapes.
 
Rasha is among the first to receive the Bertha Foundation's Artivism Award in 2022.
